Istanbul’s 7-Story Underwater Hotel to Open in 2010.

Visitors to Istanbul will soon have a chance to view the most spectacular ocean views on the planet. A seven floor, seven-star hotel is being built underwater on what was formerly a tobacco factory. There will be exhibition halls, and restaurants, and all rooms will be sea facing.

uhm... istanbul and ocean? impossible. it can be blacksea or aegean but not ocean... and as far as i know (i've been in istanbul for a long time) it's very dirty in there so don't expect colorful fish or coral stuff. well, unless they make a big aquarium that looks like ocean.

That looks so cool. I wonder if they have a room where they keep sharks with lasers strapped to their heads. That would be awesome. Sharks, with lasers on their freaking heads.

It's the experience of saying that you stayed in an underwater hotel that's appealing. Other than that, there really is no point of going.

What would they do if somebody brought a gun(s) and decided to shoot the glass? and the ocean starts leaking in? wouldn't that flood / wipe out the whole underwater complex / structure?

And if the fire / gun scenarios wasn't enough of a nightmare consideration what about a bomb smuggled into the complex, via bad person / terrorist? and last but not least, are their not fault lines underwater in that region, what about earthquakes?? hmmm. this place doesn't sound as thought out as it could be or should've been, I didn't see or read any contingency plans in the event any of those scenario's ever became reality? :dunno:
