I think this should have started from the ground up. Open up new government jobs!! I know this too has to be paid off by taxes, however if you do this you know the money is going to use and creating jobs because they come from the source. None of this throwing money around "hoping" that it works. That's funny didn't Obama's image have hope written in front of his mug? Maybe that's what that meant, "I hope I can make things better".

Can someone explain what "Change" he was preaching for the last 2 years? I can't seem to find anything that he stated he was going to change or how he was going to change it, or why it was change was needed in the first place....

You don't like the current Congress, or you don't like the concept of having a Congressional body? You understand that's part of the basis for our Republican form of government, right? Some rather bright guys in Athens and Rome worked it out for us starting about 2500 years ago.

But Obama is out of control with spending our tax dollars. Thats another thing I've never really liked about the world in general. Taxes are such bullshit. At least income tax is.

Last I checked the stock market averages were up sharply and unemployment declined today for the first time since April of 2008. You have some economic theories which would spin around the largest economy in the history of the world any faster?

I don't agree with everything that Obama is doing either. But then again, I didn't like the fact that Bush ran through the budget surplus and put us back on the road to deficit spending. And I'm not happy that we're going in that much deeper now. But when people talk about how bad things are now, I think, "Well, yeah they are... but where were these people when the economy was going off a cliff???" Whether it's Supply Side Theory or Demand Side/Keynesian Theory, either one would incur deficits during a severe recession. So what could/should have been done to avoid deficit spending during this recession?

When people say that they don't like something, I always try to ask them what they'd prefer, or what their ideas are. For whatever reason, I seldom get any sort of answer. I'm not trying to bait anyone. But if someone doesn't like the flavor of ice cream being offered, instead of just ranting about not liking chocolate, they should be able to say what flavor they do like. No?

When you inherit what he has, of course the pressure will be on anyone in that circumstance. He's handled the situations that matter better than I could have imagined.

But what pressure is he under from his congress? They're passing all of his initiatives....his agenda is moving forward despite the albatross of Bush's economy, wars and failed diplomacy around his neck.

The so called change and the hope people were wanting, well they have it up their asses. I mean how could be people be so naive to believe in a non experienced candidate??? Most of Obama's Policies are going to fail over the short run.

Hahahaha, I don't think there was a single post here that I didn't find funny. With Obama's campaign and basically "rock-star" status, everything he does is going to be under even more scrutiny than almost any president before him (definitely more than the immediate one before him).

Change is never comfortable, and breaking a few eggs is a good idea. So easy to get caught up over a "spinned" issue, to fall into the embrace of an idiot like O'Reilly, or even just simply not agree with a standpoint. Either way it goes, what he's doing may not be the best way about it but its still a change, and likely for the better.

The current way isn't working, isn't going to be a quick fix.

Where is the information on the "stipends to banks" that you spoke of in an earlier post? Please produce it fairly soon or some of us just might have to conclude, albeit with some hesitation, that you are just blowing smoke and really have no idea of what you are saying. So until you produce some relevant supporting facts, I will reserve judgement and believe that you have just forgotten them for the moment.

I do not agree with the policy of the Bush/Obama bailouts although I can perfectly understand the logic of the counterargument. Two presidents of different parties have looked at the same problem and come more or less to the same conclusion - the TARP and Auto Task force originated under President
Bush - not President Obama. Secretary Paulson secured the 700+ billion to bail out the banks and Wall Street. President Obama came in with a stimulus plan which added to the Bush end-of-term drama so in the mind of many of the masses it will appear as if it is merely an Obama drama (hey, that rhymes).

Hyman Minsky was right! On balance, it took a great deal of leadership on the part of both President Bush and President Obama to do what they knew would be most decidely unpopular - to bail out the banks and Wall Street.

On this, I must give them some credit.

I think Obama is actually coming around on a few things. And I think the Republicans are being more pundits without a cause than leaders.

For example, on penalizing people who can afford insurance but don't opt for it, or a good plan, that's little different than what Mitt Romney did. Frankly, I'm tired of irresponsible Americans who can afford health insurance, or better options offered by their employer, not taking advantage of it.

I say give the President some room and don't just lambast every decision. I hated it when the media and Democrats did that on W. when W. actually had good ideas as well.

Obama gave a brilliant interview on Face the Nation today...it was followed up by a woeful response by Michael Steele.

Case in point, Obama was asked how would he pay for his health care reforms without raising taxes. Obama responded with what he says are about 2/3 worth of waste in the current system and that no one disputes the numbers on either side and the last 3rd would be paid for in some way by the insurance carriers.

Now aside from whether that's believable or not, Steele contests the notion on the basis that eliminating waste is just not how Washington works. That may be true but Mike, when have you ever held a job in Washington to be this expert on how shit works there???

Secondly, wouldn't that be the whole point of this "change" shit Obama has made a point of seeking to deliver on??

No one has ever stopped wasteful spending so why try huh Mike? I take that back, wasteful spending has already been stopped by Obama with his ridding the taxpayer of a fictional missile shield in Europe.
