Was King of the Board for a Day
I used to work with one. He was like a big overgrown kid, a huge comic book fan, and a very nice guy. I always thought it was interesting that he didn't observe his birthday, didn't salute the flag, and was a teetotaler, but he told me why he felt drawn there and he never pressed his views on anybody unwillingly. I wish more people of any religion or faith could have been like him.

Dislike to judge on the subject but honestly don't like JW's. They don't celebrate Christmas, they don't respect other people's religion except their own, they don't pledge alligence to the flag, they're against blood transfusion, they believe once you die there is no afterlife, and they talk so much about their religion forever and ever...

It's also annoying when they knock on my door ready to hand me a booklet that says watchtower? And then explain to me why their religion is better then others and etc.

Yeah, I knew one briefly. We met while fishing close by and started running into each other. At one point he asked if I wanted to hear about his beliefs, and when I said no he was fine with it and we kept fishing.

Impersonating a gay person is always worth the effort (and possible witnesses) when the JW comes a-knockin'. If you don't want to explore that option you can always just bring up gay marriage and not let them change the subject and they'll put you on the Lost Cause list pretty quick.

What worked for me was the fact that it was 9:00AM, in a smoke-filled apartment with Metallica's version of "Am I Evil" blasting, and "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" playing on the TV. I guess the cold beer in my hand and the lit Marlboro in my lip helped, too.

They just took one look at me, then at each other...shrugged and walked away.

LOL....I like to tell them I'm Jewish but your way probably draws more of an effect. Sounds like fun too....can I come over??

He did the right thing.

Maybe some of them think that only their faith is the only true one which is not the right attitude.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not perform military service and they do not swear allegiance to the state because their only master is God.

He acted fine.

You are a Jew, but you can listen to their message if you want to.

You Miss the point (which seems to happen frequently here from what I have seen). I am not Jewish and I can also choose to NOT listen to their message if I want to. And, I definitely DON'T.

One of my college friends was a Witness I went to a few meetings at his Kingdom Hall just to see what it was like. For the most part just like any other Christian. They can drink but can't smoke that would kill it for me. The two things indidn't like was the ban on Blood transfusions, and Disfellowship. The latter is when you are Witness who violates the rules and the leaders of the church vote you out.

Once out no Witness is even allowed to speak to you, even your own family. Very cult like way of control. The plus side of this is when a Witness knocks on your door just tell them your Disfellowshipped they won't bother you again.

My family are JH both sides I grew up around it and both of my grandma's my aunt and several cousins are JH still. My mom was disfellowshipped when she was 19 as was my father when he was 16 for getting into trouble.

But that is not true about telling them you were disfellowshipped to get them to go away. You can return to the church after being disfellowshipped. You have to study with another JH until they vouch for you that you have mended your ways and are ready to return. So that might make them more aggressive because you could be helped to return.

The best thing when they knock on your door is to have porn on the tv LOUD and invite them in.

That was more my sense of humor, I knew you could be excepted back. I did think it had to be an Elder of the church you had to study with. Not sure that elder is the right term, isn't every baptized man similar to a minister?

I did meet a very interesting man at the Kingdom Hall I visited, he was a child in Germany during WWII. His grandmother was Jewish, and his father was a Witness. His mother's brothers were Nazi party members. His father survived a concentration camp, his grandmother was shot in the throat and died in front of him. He avoided the camps as he was classified a quarter Jew with a German mother. That was when I learned Witnesses were persecuted by the Nazis.

yes the elders are the ones who make decisions but you can study with anyone who is baptized.

My grandfather on my father's side was never JH, but my grandma and my aunt are. My mom's parents were both JH but my grandma won't socialize outside of the church even with family. She's fucking hardcore & stupid. Twice the church told everyone the end of times was coming even quoting a date. They urged everyone in the church to give all of their money to the church, sell their possessions including their homes and give it to the church and spend the final days out in service recruiting new members. obviously both of those dates came and went so my grandparents had handed over everything to the church not once but twice. everyone in the family got pissed at them because they were left with nothing. So my grandma stopped talking to everyone outside of the church. Fucking lunatics.

I really want a custom title!
I dated a Jehovah's Witness, some years back, very hot. Never really talked about religion with her, we broke up cause she wanted me to convert. I'm barely Catholic, and to convert to Jehovah's Witness, hell no.
