Knives? Ant knife people here?

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
So I guess I'm not really a "knife guy," but I do have opinions...

I carry a pocket knife - just a small one, and just for utility. I do a lot of "handyman" type stuff, it's good to have a knife on my person. I have had a variety of pocket knives throughout the years, but I currently have a Kershaw (http://www.kershawknives.com/). I'll never get another pocket knife that isn't Kershaw. Their guarantee seems absolute. After I had mine for around 4 years, a small part broke (the "safety"). I contacted them, they sent me a prepaid shipping envelope, I sent the knife in, they repaired it and sent it back. No charge.
And not only did they repair the broken part, they cleaned and oiled the whole knife (spring loaded, not switch blade, but very handy for one-handed opening), and they sharpened it to a very fine edge. They also use very quality steel, which holds an edge for a long time.

In the kitchen it's Wustof-Trident knives for me. It's a steel-quality issue, and a handle durability issue.

Finally, I have a long and short "ninja" sword. Get folded forged metal, nothing else.

you can never have too many flashlights, pocket knives, or lighters...
i am almost always with at least some sort of blade....
have a colt neck knift, tanto tip, 2" blade for when i am pocketless...
used SOG Flash I & II knives for a couple years... you can get them under $50, but the edges flaked badly.
jumped to Emerson foldrs... CQC 7 great knife... has a hook to open by catching the pocket as i pull it out, and is honestly frighteningly sharp... almost too sharp. & it was freaking expensive at about $120.

so i tried a Kershaw Boa... they have a smaller 'Baby Boa'... it's been my every day carry knife for 4 years... same blade, sharpened a handful of times, & has more than satisfied. I did choose the combo blade, so that if the main edge is starting to need sharpening the serrations do the trick. it's got a flipper so it can be opened on the draw but is not 'automatic' i've had it long enough i've had to worry about losing it... left it in the planter outside the Sear's Tower one night so i could go up to a party. Heh.

And if you want to carry AT such a party, Cold Steel makes 'Night Shade' series... they're kryton (spelling) plastic, the edge is impressive but they are not durable... after getting a short blade style i have opted for their 'dart' which it essentially for thrusting. But if you need it and they don't think you have a blade.

I've since given Kershaw Leek & Chives as gifts. Haven't been disappointed yet.

i'd also recommend considering tactical pens... s&w make them and benchmade but both are pricey, whereas http://www.amazon.com/Bud-K-Silver-...R49Y/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1294366753&sr=8-7 is $10. & is in my opinion just as good.

and if you decide a flashlight sounds good too? NovaTac has a great line that are BRIGHT but fit in your pocket for 1/2 to 2/3 of the cost of the Surefire lights... since i work in a basement where power outage is a real possibility i have it as well as the boa when i go to work.
