9/11 should be a holiday.

I have to work in a hour and Monday as other employees used personal days to avoid coming in.

Only if service sector jobs employers weren't greedy to maximize their profits by staying open on holidays that in today times most work anyways with limited vacation time.

But it was worst when I was a manager at Jewel-Osco as we had stay around local to work as food is big part of holidays. It is the White Collar business employees that benefit with the extra day off for labor Day and all other holidays.

LOL. Made $71.13 on my shift closing 9 PM CST. Stuck here drafting on Yahoo Fantasy Football on a league with Bulls fans on a sports forum I post on. Alissa who I replaced made 349.67 earlier at the porn store where I work.

It is great here as we can visit porn sites at work since we sell porn and sex toys.

Panther- You are absolutely correct that US workers are not treated with respect. Much of that is because people have turned into a bunch of sheep and refuse to fight for what they want and believe in anymore. So, the corporations just continue to take away more and more shit and no one complains about it. They just take it in the ass instead. Some of this is due to the fact of the threat of being replaced by someone that came over on an H1B visa...which is not necessary regardless of what the likes of Microsoft and Cisco would have you believe.

But...eliminate the day...no I don't agree with that AT ALL.

In todays US laborers are not treated with the respect they earned in the day. 9 to 5 is BS now. Today it's 24/7. For they many do not get paid overtime or holiday time1 /2. Decent time for meals and/or breaks are in the past. Eating lunch at your desk or during a conference call is common norm. Health care costs rising, pension plans being reduced or eliminated for both current and retirees, getting stiffed or laid off due to age or overqualified. This includes college/high school grads working minimum wage or
working 2-3 jobs to put food, shelter and clothing for their family. Now we have illegal workers, underpaid teachers, unemployment benefits, brick and motor workers being laid off and manufacturers/customer service people being overseas. The biggest sin is when corporations lay payoff workers without informing them and do not pay their earned wages. How about checking e-mail, text, voice mail, conference calls or called back to the job while on VACATION!! I am sure there are those who don't take vacation/personal day off due to feeling guilty of non-performance. The ass kisser gets points and the dedicated hard worker get's dick.

Labor Day today is a farce. Change it to something else, eliminate this BS/PC day off until the American worker is truly celebrated and honored. Today, it is a joke.
