Limbaugh dropped from group

How hypocritical the NFL is. They didn't want to associate themselves with Rush, but they will associate themselves with dog killers, rapist, murderers, drunk drivers, etc., etc., etc.

How pathetic but not surprising!

Its great to know that now in the USA weve come so far that one group can tell another group who that can and can't do business with.....OR ELSE.
Ok , Who's next in the crosshairs?
Could it be .....YOU?

Let the smear merchants come after me! I'm a man!

The NFL is a very image conscious organization and likes to display a good agreeable side to the public. Rush Limbaugh is an idiot with a microphone. One that can and will tell people on a daily basis what's on his mind. It's a disaster you can see coming a mile away. I can't blame the NFL. It's not because of Limbaugh's political affiliation. It's because he's stupid and can't keep his mouth closed, or even take a few seconds to think about the words that come out of his mouth.

This is a joke right? Image conscious? What about all the morons that they let back into their fucking league? such as Ricky Williams and Pac Man Jones? And you have to consider a lot of the quotes that MSNBC, and CNN posted were not even real. Someone one posted it already but here it is again:

Here

I'm not a big fan of the guy either but I think that the NFL is a joke for saying what they have about him based on how badly their "image" has been tarnished by letting fuck ups back into their league. If they were so image conscious they wouldn't have Michael Vick back...

Even the player. Your telling me a Running Back is going to turn down a multi-million dollar check from a team just because Rush is PART owner, like Stephan A Smith said "there lying"

"This is not about the NFL, it's not about the St. Louis Rams, it's not about me," Limbaugh said. "This is about the ongoing effort by the left in this country, wherever you find them, in the media, the Democrat Party, or wherever, to destroy conservatism, to prevent the mainstreaming of anyone who is prominent as a conservative.

"Therefore, this is about the future of the United States of America and what kind of country we're going to have."

"....the fuck???" This moonbat is delusional. I guess Limbaugh is realizing his shtick comes at some cost.

It is ironic though....the OP just spent the last couple of days here championing the cause of people being able to do business with whomever they choose.:dunno:

If Limbaugh isn't a business fit for this group why is he bitching about it....find some like minded business people and put together another group.

Obviously though no matter what Checketts says....it's about Limbaugh's politics...

The question now is will some of you take Checketts' word for it on this issue?

What some of you guys are missing, when you compare Limbaugh to troubled or criminal players... Rush can't catch a football, dunk a basketball or hit a baseball. I doubt that he could run more that 20 feet without clutching his chest or breaking out in hot, flop sweat. Now, that doesn't make the hypocrisy right - and I understand the point that some of you are making. But that's what it comes down to: Rush, other than whatever money he was going to put into the partnership, has no unique skill or value to the partnership or the team.

A player, who is average, probably wouldn't get a first shot, much less a second chance. The corporate world is full of guys who have royally fucked up at one company, but manage to sell themselves as "rain makers" and get hired on somewhere else: Robert Nardelli, anyone? And since the other partners in this deal apparently aren't hard up for money, why take on Rush and all of the baggage that he would bring? :dunno:

If he was a distraction why was he considered in the first place? it's not like poeople in this country have NOT heard of Rush.

2nd. Checketts said Limbaugh would have not had any say in the direction of the franchise "or in any decisions regarding personnel or operations." And this is a problem why? If the man is making zero football and player decisions why is it a big deal?

The Stephan A. Smith argument that no one is going to turn down 20 mil from RL when someone else is offering 10 mil is dumb.

How successful is the franchise going to be if they have to pay free agents double to play for the Rams? Because of a solid salary cap, revenue sharing, national TV contracts and the draft set up, the league is built on parity. A franchise can not succeed if they are paying over market value for talent.

He's not talking about over market value just a simple if one team is offering 10 mil and another is offering 20 mil whould they turn it down.

See buffalo and T.O that's working out GREAT.

You can't have everything! Where would you put it?!
Here is a wild prediction. During this next 12 months Rush Limberger will say something "controversial." The NFL can sit round as this "controversy" plays through the media cycle and at every turn reports will always begin with the words, "radio host and NFL owner Rush Limpbore today stood by his remarks that....."

That is the big difference between the Vick and the others compared with Rushton. It is his job to stir up antagonisms. It will always be a question of 'when' and not 'if.' Why would the NFL want to be associated with someone who will piss off half their audience everyday?

Slightly unrelated but ...... others here have pointed out that Rush's drug addiction was the result of a medical condition. If this is true then I am sorry. I have strong feelings about how in the US incredibly powerful medicines are handed out like candy. Having said that, Limbaugh broke the law when he became an addict. He is usually pretty intolerant of this type of behaviour in others. Why shouldn't the same standards apply to him?

:dunno: Whoever invited Limbaugh in would have to answer that. My guess is, it wasn't a big deal until it was a big deal. He apparently wasn't a critical part of the deal, so they dumped him.

Rush is basically an entertainer. That's his business. And he's made a lot of money doing that. You have a few (real world) businessmen who have made a fair amount of money, despite their big mouths: Ted Turner, Donald Trump, et al. But generally speaking, in business, the less you say, the better off you will be. Welcome to the real world, Rush. Life ain't fair. Shit happens. Somtimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug. All that jazz...

That is my point. To be meaningful, the question needs to be “If RL offered you 10 mil and any other owner offered you 10 mil, who would you play for?”

I don't think ANYONE in their right mind for play for the Rams at all this year, no matter how much money they throw at someone.

That's pretty much it. Would a white man accept money from Jesse Jackson? I think so. If he wants to pay me 10mil a year to play football then I wouldn't care where it comes from. There are plenty of realistic players out there. I guarantee you that some of the players interviewed said they don't give a shit but would our Liberal based media put that out there? FUCK NO!:2 cents:

This is great news if you're a Rams fan.

Yes, it is just brilliant news. Having a native Missourian with a crap load of money, has run an amazingly successful business, and has a passion and respect for the game would be a disaster, right? Much better to have your team continue to suck and probably move back to LA or maybe Mexico City than to have Rush Limbaugh as a minority owner. By the way, any player, black or otherwise who says he wouldn't play for a team that had Rush as a partial owner is either a)lying or b)an idiot. By the way, Irsay is a jackass from way back, ever since he shafted Baltimore and made the chickenscratch move of taking the Colts out of town in the dead of night, so having him as the voice of goodness and light is laughable. Keith Olberman gets to say "divisive" remarks every Sunday night, courtesy of the NFL and NBC. And since when is it a sin to be Divisive? If I like pecan pie, some people are going to be annoyed that I don't like apple pie as much. Didn't being divisive used to be called having an opinion? And please don't list all the "offensive" comments Limbaugh has made as a) I don't care, b) most of the worst ones are completely made up and c) those that aren't are taken out of context. I just think this whole affair shows what a bunch of pantywaists the NFL is, and the US in general is becoming.

Not to mention a recent survey shows most NFL owners and players vote Republican.

The whole thing reeks of elitist censorship and a smear campaign against someone who committed the sin of speaking their mind and being successful... which the last time I checked was ok in America.

Or maybe not.

Or maybe it's only ok if the media shares your politics.

...someone who committed the sin of speaking their mind and being successful...

So did Hitler.

which the last time I checked was ok in America.

Sure, but where in the world does it say that means people have to like what you say or even listen to it?

It's a two way street.

Rush Limbaugh has his own show, no one is censoring him. He is successful because his audience wants to hear what he has to say, even though he pisses people off.

There is a big difference between being allowed to publically state your opinion and getting paid to do so. There is a thing called Public Acesss Channel where anyone is allowed to go on there and say whatever they want to and piss off as many people as they can, but no one is paying them for it.

So did Hitler.

So, you just compared Rush Limbaugh to Hitler?

See, this is the larger problem in my estimation... calling people a racist or a Nazi just ends all debate. It's an intellectual cop-out, proving that over time, the "political correct" movement has incrementally become so pervasive that it is in itself just as intolerant and "fundamentalist" as the opposing ideals it was supposed to be combatting...

But again, my biggest problem with this whole sordid tale is that two major news outlets mis-quoted him and did not offer a retraction even when the quotes were demonstrably wrong, taking the word of know charlatins like Jackson and Sharpton over journalistic integrity. That should concern everyone IMO.
