No offense guys, but she is one of the biggest gimmicks on television, and you are all proving it.
I think she is very good looking, but I refuse to watch the show because I know that the only reason that she's on there is for ratings and nothing more, and I'm nobody's fool.I don't know if the ratings were slipping, but as soon as I saw her,I knew that it was just a ratings ploy.

Lisa, well, c'mon. The show needed a pretty face to draw in more viewers! It's working haha
Hell yeah she's a rating pull in! Think anyone gives a shit about semis driving on ice? Well, it is pretty neat, but not worth sitting down for an hour to see if they make it week after week. Thing is, this is Alaska's version of NASCAR; people are waiting for a semi truck to fall through ice, off the side of a mountain, or crash into another semi! That is their teasing points before commercials!
Will they make it? Will they crash! So and so's truck broke down in the middle of an extreme below degree temperature setting, will they survive? Will Lisa be gangbanged by Alaskan savages in a tiny hut while polar bears watch on? Stay tuned and find out!
I agree. As much as I wail about reality TV, I really like these types of shows: Black Gold, The Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers. I like them because they follow "real" working people, who have what would otherwise be considered mundane jobs... and they make it seem REALLY interesting.
The Deadliest Catch is probably my favorite because it meets its name: people have actually died and we've seen rescues on the water.
I know Lisa complained a little because she wasn't used to wearing makeup, but I don't think this show has made her seem over the top at all. I think it's well a balanced show. I very seldom watch the crap that's on network anymore. Between AMC, History Channel(s) and Discovery, with a little HGTV thrown in, other than financial news and some racing, that's more than enough TV for me.
LOL!!!! And before that the show was what? Educational television? You think there's some other reason shows are on television besides getting ratings? Like "Dancing With the Stars" is a public service or something?? What a weird post.
So that's not really her driving the truck?
Is she a "gimmick"? Yeah, in a way. Is she there to get better ratings, especially from male viewers? Yeah. Let me ask you something, how many truly ugly women do you see reading the news on Bloomberg or even PBS? And the male truck drivers are chosen for personality and how much they can yuck it up too. It's not some kind of random drawing, where any deaf mute is going to get on the show. They'd kinda like to have people watching, ya know?
I've read a little about Lisa and she is the real deal - a cute tomboy with a good, bubbly personality. She's being featured on the show because she's a cute chick... who really does do what they show her doing.
"Jump the shark" is a term usually reserved for shows that were once popular and then start doing crazy things to recapture their popularity. Ice Road Truckers doesn't exactly fall in that category. It's more popular than ever, now that she's on. If she couldn't drive or if she had been flown in from Texas just to be on the show, that would be one thing. But cute girl + truck driving show = more male viewers = higher ratings = more ad money. I mean, they're not exactly making a documentary about ancient Rome here.![]()
