Little help Finding Top Songs by Year list.

I've been searching for this for a long time.
I want to complete my music collection starting with the 90's then the 80's ect.
So what I need is a website with the top 100 rock songs and top 100 modern rock songs from each year, preferably broken down from week to week.
There's just too many songs to recall without a reference.

Its easy to find lists of for example "top songs of 1994", but they are mostly pop songs like whitley houston and stuff like that.

So I need a page that lists the top 100 songs from each category, preferably Rock and US Modern Rock (aka alternative) with a week by week section, but top 100 overall by year will do I guess.

Seems easy to find but it ain't.
Anybody got a list?

Yea, but if you search around on the Billboard site, you'll probably find exactly what you are looking for in their archives....I just don't have the time to check it for you!

Amazon actually has a pretty decent and comprehensive breakdown of music by year, sales, genre etc ... this is for 2009

Popradiotop20.com has a modern rock database that dates the back to the chart's beginnings. Sadly I don't know where to find in-depth info on the mainstream rock chart...which is my favorite chart.

the billboard only goes back to a few years ago, so does the amazon.

yeah that's real good, I could use that.

I wonder if theres a similar site that has mainstream rock categorized like that.
many of the modern and mainstream rock songs chart in both categories but some don't.........too bad they just never merged the 2.
for example a tom petty song would only be listed in mainstream rock but a STP song would be listed in both categories in different positions in the lists.

^Yeah, it's amazing to look at the mainstream rock songs that did well around 1993...definitely not the songs that receive heavy play as recurrents.
