Nikkala made me do it!
You're both wrong. :nono:Season 5 won't be their last season, their last Season will be Season 7.So they still have 3 more seaons left.
Two more seasons, 17 hours scheduled next year, and 17 hours in 2010. :2 cents:

On May 7, 2007, ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson announced that Lost will end during the 2009–2010 season with a "highly anticipated and shocking finale."We felt that this was the only way to give Lost a proper creative conclusion," McPherson said.Beginning with the 2007–2008 television season, the final 48 episodes of Lost would have been aired as three seasons with 16 episodes each, with Lost concluding in its sixth season. Due to the writers strike, the fourth season will have 14 episodes, and Seasons 5 and 6 will have 17 episodes each.
Executive producers Lindelof and Cuse stated that they "always envisioned Lost as a show with a beginning, middle, and end," and that by announcing when the show would end that viewers would "have the security of knowing that the story will play out as we've intended."Lindelof and Cuse stated that securing the 2010 series-end date "was immensely liberating" and helped the series rediscover its focus. Lindelof noted, "We're no longer stalling.
I suspect the island along with the island moving has to do with alien technology. When Ben went below, he went to the lantern, below the lantern was some weird looking writing on the rock. Ancient leftover alien technology would explain alot about the island along with the giant statue foot with four toes.
Also, I believe Sawyer and Juliet are Adam and Eve, the 2 bodies the Tail section survivors found in that old station back in season 2, hugging each other holding the bible. In that bible Eko found was the complete orientation film for the Swan station.
I would suspect Ben sent the island back in time and Juliet and Sawyer may have been trying to send a message to Jack.
Next season is the last season. According to the producers, everything will wrap up. Word is the next season will not begin until Feb 2009 with all episodes shown back to back to the Series finale in May 2009.
Peace.
I really wish that they would come to their senses and end the show next season instead of milking it until it's bone dry and further digging themselves into a hole that they can't write themselves out of.Anyway that's my :2 cents:...at least for now.
interesting opinion Zell. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the ending, but overall i felt that this season was easily on par with season 2, and may have even been better. which would rank it for me, as second best (after season 1). You say the show has gotten more convulated, but I think it has found it's voice. I think that at this point the creators know who their fanbase is and they are appealing to them, a move that I feel turns off casual and new viewers. but I can't complain, I think that they did rather well at keeping this season fresh.
The writers have said that they have already written and will give the answers to everything in the final season.
In all I think this was the worst season, not that it was really bad, just not as good as the others.
The best thing I've seen this season was Locke putting the grenade in Miles' mouth and saying "Enjoy your dinner". Fucking awesome.
But the next season isn't the final season,so what's your point? And I honestly don't think that they will tie up all of thier loose ends.I don't really have a problem with them not answering every single question, but I just think that there are plot hole a mile wide and 1000 ft deep that they either won't be able to answer or give a lame ass explaination.
My point is they wouldn't include something like the four toed statue, the monster, the numbers or anything else like that if they didn't have an explanation for it already.
Im not saying that they have already written the final season, but they have confirmed that they can explain every part of the series' mythology, which they will give in the final 2 seasons.
That is a very optimistic view and somewhat naive. They introduced the idea of Walt having some sort of power and look where that got him and what about Nikki and Paulo?I'm sure that there was an idea of some of these things when they were introduced, but I just don't see any way that everything can be answered without some convoluted explanation.
Also incase your wondering what Sawyer said to Kate,Sawyer whispers to Kate "I have a daughter in Alabama, you need to find her, tell her i'm sorry".
Yeah, what about Nikki and Paulo? It was a slight change in the storyline to focus on two unknown characters, instead of the star cast. Nikki and Paulo were both buried alive, obviously killing them. Is there anything that needs explained about them? Their storyline was totally plausible, even if somewhat far fetched.
Walt is still a major fixture in Lost and will no doubt be featured again in the next season. He did say in the finale about Jeremy Bentham, or Locke, meeting him off the island, so do you not think that these things will be explained, or even shown?
Like I said before, the Nikki Paulo storyline,if nothing else, was a device to buy the writers a little bit of time to figure out their next move.I'm still not 100% sure if they are really dead even though all signs point to the fact that they are.In the end, even though I liked that story,it was pointless to the plot of the show.
And again about Walt, they were trying to make it like he had some sort of power and now there is absolutely no focus on that. It's just like in professional wrestling when they make up some lame ass storyline or character and all of a sudden, they drop that story or that wrestler becomes another character and you're just supposed to forget about it.It's almost the same thing.
The whole thing with Mr. Eko illustrates this perfectly, hell, all of the survivors from the tail section(with the exception of Bernard) you could say this about. They ended up dead and now the only reason any of it matters is to give Micheal motivation for redemption, but looking back at it,they could have put anybody in the position that Micheal was in on the freighter and it really wouldn't have made any difference, thus, ultimately making all of the characters from the tail section (again, with the exception of Bernard) pointless.
And another loose end,Libby in the nuthouse with Hurley. They ended that episode like it was supposed to be some reveling aspect of the story that would effect future events, but that whole thing just whithered away without any fan fair.
Sorry dude,I totally understand where you are coming from, but I just don't agree with it.
Its a TV show! Mr Eko was a really interesting character while he was on it, but he got killed. You can't say his whole storyline was pointless, because it was supposed to be entertaining while it was on. Michael, Jin, Ana Lucia, and everyone who died have had a hand in making the show entertaining. But now they are dead there is no way you can say they are pointless.
Thats like saying when the show ends "Well that was completely pointless because its over". It entertained you and kept you interested, didn't it? Thats what TV shows are supposed to do. The same can be said for every other character that has appeared on the show, but is now gone. They entertained you, therefore they are not pointless.
As for Libby, it has been confirmed that the Libby/Hurley mental hospital situation will be explained next season. No doubt with alot more stuff, and as I said before, Walt. Who knows, maybe Nikki and Paulo will be referenced, or even be a major part of the storyline in the final 2 seasons.
