marathon running

Master Roshi

All hail the FO Cult Mother!
are there any runners on this forum who are currently training for any type of distance running events or marathons

I am a failure to the Korean side of my family
Does training for fun runs count?

The one and only.
I run 5-7 miles, weather permitting. There's a great app called Run Meter if you have an iPhone on iPod touch with GPS. It times and maps your route and then compares your times and grades them depending on past performances. It's great for pushing yourself to perform better and improve your times.

I'd like to work up to marathons some day, but that's not going to happen right now.

yeah there are a few apps like that, you should look into a garmin forerunner gps when you can, I've been using one for almost 2 years now and I never go on a run without it and I'm sure you will work up to a marathon in due time, just keep increasing your base mileage slowly and steady

all you need are:

adidas
compression pants/shirt (in this weather lately)
cheap mp3 player loaded
magic gloves

and you're good to go. i dont do the ipod/heartmonitor/bodybug thing... run until you've played through 2 albums... at the start of your 2nd album, turn around thats the halfway point @ around 8 miles in a typical hour long album, you'll have done 16 miles which is good for training by the end of the 2nd album. works for me

that works too :) but it is good to wear a heart rate monitor because knowing your heart rate zones (1-5) and where you are during your run can tell you how your body is holding up and it can help you tweak your schedule and adjust it so you can get the most out of your running, definitely gotta have the mp3 player too :)

I have not run for about a month, trying to get rid of the tendonitis in my left knee, any freeone runners have suggestions for getting rid of minor tendonitis?
