Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2

Got my copy early, and I have to say it's pretty awesome. The fusions are a welcome addition and replace the extreme attacks, and the combinations you can pull off are really sweet. The roster's nice as well, although I haven't unlocked all the characters yet (playing on the pro-registration side after the Secret War act now). There are some characters you unlock while you're playing, while Jean Grey, Hulk, and Thor need to be unlocked by picking up items related to them such as Asgardian runes, etc.

Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far
I have it for PS2 and love it, but I think that the first one is a LITTLE (seriously just barely) bit better. But I have no real complaints, seeing as how any game where I get to play as Deadpool is awesome! Definetly my favorite comic character. You probably already have, if you're playing MUA 1/2, but as a comic fan, I recommend Justice League Heroes. It's almost identical in game-play, but obviously with DC characters. Plus, Green Arrow has the most powerful ability in the game (fully pumped Exploding Arrow)! A cheap pick-up to compliment MUA 1 or 2.

I have Justice League Heroes as well as Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 but I have to say I'm a little disappointed with Marvel 2. I should known something was up when I saw that Vicarious Visions was the developer instead of Raven Software. It's not a bad game overall and the graphics are definitely better but I've said time and time again that graphics don't mean shit if everything else is crap. Some of the voice acting is terrible, the gameplay has been seriously downgraded to make it simpler, every character has only four abilities compared to the first one, only two costumes (it's minor but still a downgrade) and a lot of the alternate costumes that were chosen are some of the ugliest choices that have been made. The Fusion powers are great though and the story isn't bad until the 3rd act (the 3rd act is terrible). On top of that a lot of the characters themselves are worthless and complete shit. Venom is the worst of the characters. Like I said, overall not totally bad but it's a huge disappointment. I'm glad I bought Wet when I bought this game because Wet turned out to be awesome.

You make some very valid points! If there's more than one costume in MUA2 (for PS2), please tell me how to access them, as I've yet to figure out how.

And yes the voice acting is pretty bad in MUA2 and Deadpool isn't nearly as funny in this one...

Most alternate costumes can only be unlocked depending on which side you chose and you have to defeat 50 enemies with that character. For example Spider-Man has to be unlocked through Pro-Registration and Wolverine has to be Anti-Registration. Some characters like Gambit and Storm can be on either side to unlock their costumes. You should be able to check the Stats page to find out which requirements go with which characters and how many enemies you have left to defeat for them. Also whoever chose the guy to do Thor's voice should be shot.

I was going to buy this, but it has slipped in my standings. I think they can do better than just 24 playable characters. Marvel has such a big cast of characters, I would have loved to see some leser known characters playable. I'll still probably rent it, but overall I've lost a lot of interest.

Lol too bad the guy that does Thor's voice is literally in like EVERY game ever. Seriously, talk about a VG VO man whore! Ha ha, What console are you playing MUA2 on? I have no such options on the PS2 version... And I had Spidey unlocked since the very beginning of the game.

I'm playing it on XBOX 360 but I thought they were all the same as far as unlocking stuff goes.

24 characters isn't enough for you? Would 1000 be enough? You're right, 1000 playable characters is a little shy, I mean there's SO many in the Marvel universe... And there's a few lesser known characters in there for you like Ms. Marvel's lame ass, Penance, Deadpool, Songbird, and Blade. But that's probably not enough, huh...

No! Now I'm way jealous! It sounds like you have a few more options than I do! How are your load times? Mine are frequent and LONG

Well, considering the game has less characters than the first one...

Nope, not enough. :nanner:

I don't really like the load times on the game but I really only deal with them during mission briefings, character costume changes, and loading the game itself. In those instances I've felt that the load times were longer than they should be.

Fair enough. To each his own, I suppose. At least you're a comic fan, that's all that REALLY matters, lol.:hatsoff:

Agreed.

I should post more!
I finally got around to renting this one. I enjoyed it too, but once I realized that once you finish the game, and start another, you don't keep all the unlocked characters and costumes unless you play the brutal Legendary difficulty. This made the game go from 7/10 to 0/10 because that's just dumb. ;)

Plus Venom sucks and is Gargan, not Brock. (Stupid comic book writers....)

Psylocke and Carnage are going to be the first two downloadable characters. That's pretty tits.

Along with Cable, Black Panther, and Magneto but when are they coming because I'm thinking about trading this game in and putting it towards my Modern Warfare 2 pre-order on Monday.

Couldn't answer that; I thought it was two weeks the article said but I can't remember.

I actually haven't even played the game yet. :nanner:
