u americans and your holidays lol, dont mind me asking but what exactly does memorial day symbolize in america?
is it the same sort of thing as Canada day in Canada? just asking...

i dont know what canada day is but memorial day is when we remember the sacrifices of veterans....etc....

the "offical" start of summer, BBQ's, parades and a day off

but recently people have actaully remembered the importance of remembering wars, and veterans that should occur on days like this....

after all those who forget history are doomed to repeat it

BTW: where in canada...i went to school in buffalo and spent alot of time in our northern neighbor...toronto rocks

In between the beach and the pool and the BBQ and hot dogs and beer and bratwurst, take a brief moment and try to remember what the meaning of this sacred American holiday is all about.

In recognition of the service and sacrifice for those who gave their all in order that we may remain free....to all our veterans and our current fighting men and women....thank you so very much from this proud and grateful American.

It symbolizes at day when everybody should put their political differences aside and recognize the sacrifices made by those who served in our Armed Forces
... so that we can return the next day and for the next 363 days, to bitch about how miserable we have it at home in front of our PCs, as we consume a family sized bag of Lay's BBQ Potato Chips, whilst washing it all down with a rich, creamy, Jumbo sized chocolate shake.
