You don't ignore, but you also don't push the concept to middle-schoolers. Despite popular belief, 12 and 13 year olds don't dwell on sex anywhere near the same amount of time adults do, so why put the taboo idea where it might not be? Why are we not giving the option of abstinence to kids anymore? We push this 'Sex is GONNA happen to you as a teen notion' to all teens, and preparation has quicky turned into a concrete concept. It honestly makes no sense to push the pressures of sex to younger kids; to send them looking for what you don't really want them to see.
If you're gonna give teens the options, give em' all the options.
If you're prepare them for situations, give em' both sides.
Preparation isn't just physical, it's emotional and mental as well. The U.S. and our 'Fix, but don't prevent' mentality isn't helping.
