With every blockbuster, you'll find a spoof or knock-off released around the same time looking to piggyback off of the hype of the original.
They are made to not be taken seriously, and it can be fun to see how bad they are.

Here's the most recent one:

Battle: Los Angeles. Good movie apart from right at the end where the never say die Marines and the Air Force chick all rearm and go out to fight again without any rest.
Gave us "Battle of Los Angeles".

The only ones I can think of now, is the "Airplane" franchise, which mocked the fuck out of the "Airport" franchise.
