Speaking personally, the greatest cinematic crime here is committed by Peter Jackson`s otherwise magnificent Lord of the Rings series. They should have brought Saruman back at the end, when Frodo returns to Hobbiton, as happens in the book.

I always thought Aliens was akin to T2. They were both over the top action movie adaption of horror/thrillers.

I understand loving Alien, but not being a fan of Aliens. I'm there myself...though I admit that Aliens was directed incredibly well and the effects were top notch. I just don't care for hyperbolic action fare.
