My Arm Hurts....

SUPERsmitty

^ yes thats me!
But not the arm you think and not for the reason you think :hatsoff::hatsoff:

I want to become an Officer in the Marine Corps so I have been training physically rather intensely including lots of pull ups. Now my left forearm is sore and makes it hard to do pull ups. I hope its just something like shin splints and not a stress fracture.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
You know, I'm sure there's other, more appropriate ways of letting us know that you wanna be an ociffer when you grow up. Maybe even some that wouldn't get you so much shit from the other members... :hatsoff:

2 question
1. What is your rotune and how often are you doing PT?
2. M.A.R.I..N.E. stands for My Ass Rides In Navy Equipement.

Are you in the naval acadamy, navy rotc or just joing the marine's OCS?

1. Right now I am on an 8 day rotating schedule. Day 1 - Run, Day 2 - Rest, Day 3 - Circuit, Day 4 - Rest and repeat. On my run days I run about 3 miles, on the circuit days I do Lat Pulldowns, Pushups, Diamond Pushups, Crunches, Frog Sit Ups, Up Downs and Sit ups with Turns and a 1 mile run. On my rest days I do pushups, diamond pushups, crunches and frog sit ups and a 1.5 mile run.

I have one of those pullup bars you hang in the door. So I hang mine in my bedroom door so everything I walk by I do as many as I can. I have a 25 lbs dumbell sitting by the door so I do curls and shoulder presses when I walk by too.

2. A.R.M.Y. - Aren't Really Men Yet :p J/K. I don't know why but I've never seriously considered any other branch but the Marine Corps.

I am 23 with a BA in Accounting and Economics...I am trying to get into the January Ground OCS class (I'll certainly be down to my max weight by then).

I think the problem might be you are not resting enough from you PT. If your consistently walking by equipment and working out your not really resting your muscles. Eventually might cause real problems. What MOS are you looking at going into.

I know I know...but I have never really been that good at pullups so I am trying to work my ass off.

I am thinking combat support something like Intelligence, finance, or logistics. Unfortunately as an Officer I won't have the luxury of choosing my MOS. But I want to work for the FBI someday and I figure my Degree plus a couple of bars on my collar would definitely help me achieve that.

All you have to do is complete the REQUIRED amount, not blast ahead of the class. Also your going to be doing LOTS of pushups, situps, hill climbers, jumping jacks and TONS of running. When I went through BCT 13 years ago, I did horrible on the pullups but excellet on the push ups and sit up to compensante for it. Also i had a pretty good run time. You will be doing PT just about everyday so don't worry you will eventually get the pull ups. But rest is KEY don;t injuy yourself and then have to be rolled back or worse do it all over agin.

FBI I would think wants more LE requirements than anything else. Like you said as an officer you don;t get to pick your MOS. But your going to be a Marine adapt and overcome.

Your about to embark on the ride of a lifetime. From a grizzle combat vet to a soon to be marine SEMPER FI! Carry on.

The Initial PT to get accepted to OCS is three events. Pullups, Crunches, and 3 mile run.

Well then I would maybe do some work on your lats and do some barbell and dumbell rows. Also working your shoulders is another way to increase your pull ups. Your lat's do the most of the work though so I would focus on them.

Looking to go where no FreeOnes member has gone before!
Be a man. Suck it up & do your pull ups with 1 arm. Now quit your bitching.
