Nice tits, mind if I feel them?
Parity is the key to success for any sports league. Look at the NFL and NHL. Anybody who makes the playoffs can win it all. How does that ruin things??

The only way there can be parity in the NBA is to shorten the playoff series. Make the playoffs like the NFL or NCAA tournament, or shorten the series to 3 games. IMO, it's easier to pull off upsets in the NFL, NHL, MLB because of the lack of possessions.

In basketball, each team has about 80 possessions in a game. It's too hard for inferior teams to overcome that, especially in a 7 game series. That's why you see the same teams win every year.

I don't know about mind-boggling, I mean they are a very well coached team. Maybe surprised is a better term to use. I think I can speak for a majority of Bulls fans and say that I didn't see them as 60 win team. Coming into the season I thought they'd be the third best team behind Boston and Miami.

You said the same thing about San Jose in the NHL thread. Perennial chokers have to end the streak sometime.

They consistently won.

How the Heat DIDN'T... that's whats mind boggling.

lol:1orglaugh I'm not trying to diss your Bulls, I'm just giving props to Derrick Rose.

Out of LA, San Antonio, Dallas, Boston, Miami, Orlando.... and it's Chicago that ends up with the best record in the NBA? Who expected that? And include injuries that Chicago suffered as well.

Yes, it is. That's why Wade and Lebron are not MVP.

I understand, but that's how they won. They didn't go on a losing streak longer than two games. What's funny is that the formula for a dominant team in the NBA hasn't changed since the 80's:

1: Have a main scorer [19 ppg +]
2: Have a secondary scorer [15 ppg+]
3: Have a top 10 rebounder
4: Have a top level bench player
5: Have a top level 3 pt. shooter
6: Have a top level defender

The more of these you have, the better your team is. All of the teams left have they're own versions of a few of these guys, and it's why they're still alive. In the Bulls case:

1: D-Rose [MVP]
2: Lu Deng
3: Jo Noah
4: Kyle Korver
5: Kyle Korver
6: Keith Bogans (not elite, but good)

The best Bulls team ever:

1: M. Jordan [league best]
2: Pippen [league best]
3: The Worm [league best]
4: Toni 'The Waiter' [league best]
5: Steve Kerr [league best]
6: Pippen

Be careful what you wish for, it might come true!

For me personally it's not the best because it renders the regular season much less meaningful....which sucks for the best regular season teams and from a spectator standpoint.

MLB and the NFL are still within reasonable bounds with their playoff systems, but the NHL and NBA are not.

The Lakers: they've had more than their share of detractors this year but I've never been worried about them, until now. I think last night's game is going to cost them this series.

Just like the Spurs, the sands in the hourglass are running low real quick. Their time has come and gone and we are looking at the ushering in of the next era of top flight teams.
