Clive Owen would be perfect for the part if they returned the character to its roots. The original Fleming novels were actually fairly dark and Fleming thought Connery played the character too humorously.

I think they should stop trying to invent new bad guys and make the Bond movies retro, taking place back during the Cold War. There's so much competition in the spy movie genre, with Mission Impossible, Bourne, and Clancy, and even Austin Powers takes a lot of the humor away from Bond.

I think it will be Jude Law. He just has the right kind of style for being a bond. Farrells accent is too strong. I dont think you could ever tone down such a strong Irish accent and turn it to an English one without it sounding stupid.

The one Orlando Bloom is meant to be making is a Spin Off for Bonds younger days. Pretty much confirms he is too young to play Bond yet.

I'm not a Bond aficionado but regarding accents Farrell plays Americans in half his roles so he knows how to tone down his accent. And what about Sean Connery? Did he sound English? I was half expecting him to wear his kilt in some of those movies

I would be pleasantly surprised if Jude Law were to do it..... he's one of my fav actors. However, in a way I'd also be disappointed if he did it. One of the things I like best about him is his affinity for taking on challenging roles (and no, I don't consider Bond a challenging role).

One thing's for sure, I'll be glad if Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell are passed over.... I can't stand either of them! :tongue:

Honestly, I didn't think Brosnan or Dalton would make great James Bonds, and they turned out to be pretty good.

Farrell is too in to himself (although that is a classic Bond trademark) for me to think he'd play it right.

Law doesn't seem man enough.

Bloom is far too young (although, I do like the sound of a Bond flick from his early days).

Grant is too sissy for a role like that (just imagine him in a fight scene).

And I don't think McGregor has the look.

I know very little about Owen.

Unless they go the younger route, hopefully they get Brosnan back for another flick.

After that, even though I didn't like his character in Black Hawk Down, Eric Bana might be a wise choice.
