Anyone watching any of the new shows on TV like "Better Off Ted", "Castle", "Cupid", "Kings", "In The Motherhood", "Party Down" or "Surviving Suburbia"?

As I'm a huge fan of good TV shows and desperately need replacements for the good shows that ended in the last two years or will end soon, I thought I'll check out some of the new stuff.

I really like "Castle". I am a bit surprised by that myself, because hardly anything about this series is new or "genuine", but it is really well made and sometimes even funny.
I still don't know what to think of "Kings" and "Party Down". I mean, I mainly started watching these shows because of Ian McShane and Lizzy Caplan :)yesyes:), but I can't make up my mind. Same thing with "Cupid". Pilot was ok, but the show has to step-up a bit, in my opinion.
"In The Motherhood"....yeah...I think I wasn't really the target audience for that...so I guess it'll bite the dust...
"Better Off Ted" is actually way funnier than I expected. Guess I'll keep watching that. Almost the same goes with "Surviving Suburbia", even though it's not that interesting of a show. Once again great job by Cynthia Stevenson, though.

So, to repeat the question: Anyone watching any of these new shows?

Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.
I never heard of these shows that you're talking about.

My TV is set to History, Discovery, Discovery Science, PBS, Animal Planet, IFC, AMC, Spike, Travel Channel, HGTV and last but not least, Food Network.

That's cause they're the usual lame Network shows...not equal to, say, Rescue Me or Boston Legal, even though BL is a network show.
If they ain't cussin' or fuckin', it's not believeable...and probably Network.

Never heard of a snigle one :dunno: they probably arent being shown in the UK yet.

These shows all started recently in the US. So I don't think they're being shown in the UK yet. :(

And whether a network show is lame or not depends on the show and the viewers taste, not some questionable, generalizing philberterian judgment.

I´m watcing "Castle" and "Better off Ted". Can´t say I´m in love with either one of them. I think I´ve become a bit spoilt by having all shows available via...... you know.

Never heard of any of those shows!

My TV is usually set to ESPN or any sport. Although, I do like watching Hell's Kitchen, that show is pretty funny.

Absolutely. Anybody who hasn't checked out "Lie To Me" until now, do so. ;) It's a great show so far. Pretty well made, in my opinion. And casting Tim Roth is never the wrong decision. He really brings his character to life.

Is "Parks and Recreation" really that good? I wasn't sure whether to watch the pilot or not, because there were so many conflicting opinions on this show (by the critics, the network, the test audience) and the topic/plot didn't seem that interesting. Maybe I'll check it out after all.

Ok. so I tried "Cupid" and "Kings", and I really like both of them.
Strangely, I like "Cupid" more and more. After the pilot I thought that it was not that great of a show, but halfway through the week I was surprisingly starting to look forward to the next episode and watched it after all.
With "Kings" it's kinda the other way around. I was really looking forward to that show, but it's getting less and less interesting every week. Everytime you think "Oh, there's a new intrigue coming...and it's gonna make a great story arc", the whole scheme changes ten minutes later (in an often uninteresting way) or is forgotten about or is never even mentioned again. The show kinda misses some "sharp edges" and needs something like a good leitmotif for every episode, not just some pseudo-religious symbolism. The main theme of the whole show is quite good (as it is a modern day remake of one of the oldest stories known to man, what could go wrong there?), but the showrunner/producers must think of a better way to "put it into effect".
