New York Bar Exams

was wondering if anyone has sat the New York Bar. If so, if you could recommend which books to get and from where perhaps. being from overseas not really sure what I should go for.

Also any comments about your experience would be awesome

A friend of mine took the bar 3 times in Pennsylvania before he passed. Now he is raking in the money.

I studied pre law and planned be a lawyer. I would go to the local library and ask there. They are usually good on helping you find books to meet your needs.

Now might not be the time to enter the law profession, actually. Many lawyers have been laid off in the past year. I've read a lot of scary articles about there being too many law schools churning out too many newbie lawyers with too few jobs out there....

I guess take the bar but also head to bartender school until the market turns around :dunno:

BarBri are the best -- at least for California where I am licensed.

However, if you are from across the pond I would really recommend a private tutor. The NY bar is the second most difficult to pass and there are some questions that will be specific to NY state law that you will need to know in order to pass.

The Bar exam is the test most law educated people (Juris Doctor) need to pass in a specific jurisdiction to practice law in that jurisdiction. NY exam=NY Bar. When they pass they become a member of that Bar Association and a legal Barrister. Winging it but I think that's about right....

I have sat for the bar exam in N. Carolina and Florida.

Just move across the river to New Jersey. 6 MBE topics and 7 essay questions. Paris Hilton could pass it.

good point. though, on the flip side, I have read that many people without a tutor from UK pass. what the main theme throughout was discipline and practising the exam questions over and over and over.
