Other hockey news: World Championships 2010 started in Germany.

In opening game Germany won USA 2-1 on home ice in front of 77 803 viewers (new world record!).

What kind of arena was this played in? Talk about bad timing to start this event with the playoffs in full form.

I'd say so. Germans aren't really known for their love of hockey, so it's pretty impressive that they managed to beat the old record by a few thousand people. It will do nothing but good for hockey in Germany. I think it would be a good idea to make a game in a stadium an annual thing for the World Championship. With the NHL playoffs on and the Olympics earlier in the year the championship kind of gets lost in the shuffle; it might be a nice way to add some notability to the event. :2 cents:

And I just read on a website that the Vancouver Games were the most succesful winter olympics in history. Whether that's true or not, bottom line is they could have filled a 100K for the USA vs Canada final. Talk about a classic.

The only thing that can stop the Hawks is the salary cap.

And a better goalie - and a healthy roster. If they can maintain this nucleus they will be a force to be reckon with for the forseeable future. They really were bustin' their asses flying around last night. Fuck a goalie though, right? (didn't we have that conversation somewhere before). They keep putting up 5-7 goals a night forget it.
