Ask the same people if they know who David Koci is and I'd bet there'd be very few people who do. If you think it's impressive to have half of the people at a sports bar know who their home team's best player, captain, and superstar is then you haven't been to a true hockey town before.
Go to a place like Edmonton and well over half the people at the SUPERMARKET will know every player on the team as well as several prospects in the farm system. They'll know who Lecavalier is too, since he's one of the league's top ten forwards for sure. I'm glad there are at least some good fans like you, but hockey is just not popular in Tampa.
