Thanks for further obliteration the definition of "irony".
A man was protesting the state law of mandatory helmet use during riding. He died while not wearing a helmet. How exactly is that "irony"?
He wasn't insisting that it's safe; he was insisting that it's his right to make his own choice.
Would it be "ironic" if somebody who believe in legalizing heroin died of an OD? Would it be "ironic" if an enlisted man died in battle?
Please people, stop using big words until you know what they mean.
