how can you say his dui has nothing to do with his profession yea there different thing but come on now your saying its right this guy pulled over people for drunk driving all the time and is supposed to live by law he enforces, then he himself goes out there and does it, and injures an innocent person while doing, thats not cool.
His profession has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he got a DUI. He wasn't on duty when he got his DUI and hit that pedestrian, so his profession has nothing to do with his arrest. Is it ironic that a police officer got a DUI? Yes. Is it relevant that a police officer got a DUI? No, not at all.
I know that a lot of people claim that they expect "more" from a police officer, as they are given authority and hold a higher place in society than regular citizens (in the sense of power), but people have to realize that police officers aren't working 24/7; they have time off. And, when they
do have time off, they are no longer police officers; they are normal, everyday citizens just like you and I. They get drunk, they speed, they pay their bills late, they spank their kids, they cheat at poker, they whack off to Miley Cyrus pictures, they give bad tips -
they even drive drunk and get DUIs - just like everybody else does.
Personally, I feel bad for police officers when it comes to social perception. In news stories like this one, you always hear the term "OFF DUTY POLICE OFFICER". But, when do you ever hear the term "off duty bank teller" or "off duty Gap manager" or "off duty babysitter"...???
Never. You
never hear that because there are no ratings to be had by saying such a thing. But, plastering "POLICE OFFICER" all over the place makes people read the paper, watch the news or look at a story on the internet, which equals dollar signs for whoever publishes the story.
Also, I never said that what he did was right, so I have no idea where you're getting that from.
