I can set my own custom title!
No- no oops. I was willing to give the guy a chance after he got elected, and I do think that no matter who the guy is, the office of the President of the US demands a certain amount of respect, but the same anger and viciousness that was directed at Bush for 8 years has now been turned into the energy that his unwavering supporters use to defend him.
And can anyone really, honestly, truthfully look at themselves in the mirror, and say that these first few months with this president and this congress have been anything but a shameless, power-grabbing spendathon? The expansion of our government here just since January makes me shudder.
I mean, who is actually ok with statism? It's funny how many liberal folks condemn everything the government is and does- but they're ok with them controlling everything? From medicine, to their salary rate, to just about anything else you can think of.
This notion of 95% of people getting a tax cut is ludicrous, and not for the reasons that guys like Rush and Hannity say it is. Most people focus on one thing when they think of taxes- income withholding tax. It's really nowhere near that simple, folks. Take a look, and really dig into what you are paying in taxes (here in the US)- the income tax you pay is a sliver of the bullshit taxation that you are subjected to.
FICA, social security, medicare, and state income tax, and these are just what come out of your paycheck. Don't forget you often have local and state sales taxes, and some congressmen want a FEDERAL sales tax. There are taxes on certain products (i.e. cigarettes, alcohol), there are taxes on your property if you own a home or land. Taxes, taxes, taxes. I swear, there's probably a sign in the US capitol that reads "I came, I saw, I taxed."
I won't go into the numbers of who pays what, or the most, or any of that. You've all read it or heard it, and depending on your political leanings, you either believe it or you don't, but lastly, if you honestly believe that "corporate tax" is something we should be doing to beat down all these evil companies that do sinister things like... hire people, and produce products, I want you to know, you're paying that one too.
Corporations don't just cut a check every year to pay their corporate tax. They don't go to a tax service and have them done. No, folks, they work all that tax right into the price of whatever it is they do or make, and then.... you get to pay for that too.
I'm not Republican. I'm not Democrat- I'm some kind of weird, liberpublitariancrat hybrid. I have a lot of conservative views, and some liberal views. But the kind of attitude that this president, and his ardent supporters have is, to me, a bit worrysome. Even the strongest supporters of Bush knew when to step back and call the guy an idiot. With Obama, there are some folks who just won't see anything he does as wrong or bad for the country.
And I'm not saying Obama is Hitler- my little joke was more a stab at a. the folks who called Bush a nazi for 8 years, but fail to see how a guy taking over a country during tough economic times, with fanatical followers, chanted slogans, and a huge, power-grabbing government could have some kind of similarity to something historical
and b. The fact that as our nation leans on the weakly, shallowly planted pole of socialism, most people don't realize that Adolph Hitler? He considered himself a socialist.
Now let's all be friends and wait for North Korea to nuke something.
