1st wtc bombing in 1993, bombing of Ambassy of Nairobi in Kenya in 1997 and bombing of the USS Cole in 1999. Clinton did nothing to stop the perpetrators of these attacks which lead to 9/11/2001.

What is the exact policy Bill Clinton should have engaged in to prevent the 1st WTC attack, the bombing of the Cole or the Embassy attack?? We're dying to know how Clinton could have prevented these attacks according to Geo. Was he suppose to invade some country after the first WTC attack or before???

I think it is shameful because the last 10 years of Nobel Peace Prize winners is like a who-is-who list of leftist activists.

There recently was a death of a 98 year-old lady named Irena. During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. She had an 'ulterior motive' ... I'd like to nominate Sarah Palin for the 2010 Nobel Peace prize. I think she's done quite a job in fostering peace within the U.S. and other places where she jets off to speak in dark, dingy places to collect nontaxable under-the-table income (cough cough appearance fees).

She saw herself as a divisive puppet who served no purpose for the "powerful Washington elites" except to rile up Ma and Pa in the heartland. Now that she isn't wanted to do even that, I sense a return to a more peaceful political rhetoric in America...thank you Sarah Palin :bowdown:

The problem as I see it is too many on the right care too much about symbolisms than whether or not they're making good, tangible policy differences.

In all seriousness Obama's win while surprising is not without merit and a completely reasonable award by any standard.

The first false premise is that Obama needed to accomplish something as President in order to be nominated or win the Nobel Peace Prize. Nothing could be further from the truth as where is that written?

Let's forget his non-proliferation efforts in the Senate with Sen. Lugar for a second...Obama was the man who came on the scene saying things like there is not a red America and a blue America but the United States of America. He'd already authored historic, inspiring speeches on unity, race and a change in the way Americans should think and act not just toward one another but to the world. No less inspiring words than previous winners.

While his opponents put bombing our enemies on the table and took the (somehow extreme) position of talking to them off the table, Obama was the only one who said all options are on the table especially talking to them.

There were those who had dreams of change(But how soon we forget) Obama's words ACTUALLY inspired the change many couldn't have imagined in their lifetime. As a nation twice did things it had never done before in electing him. That's not an accomplishment?? Some might argue that's the accomplishment of this young century so far. The US elected Barack Hussein Obama!!!

Even the most ardent Obama critics have to acknowledge (if they have any intellectual integrity) that his words and subsequent election have moved the world. Rarely has it been the case that words and not bombs have moved the world even if slightly as moving the world but an inch is no small feat.

Hell, his uniting of the Clintons alone should have gotten him a Peace Prize nomination.

Yes he was very humbled & even mentioned that he didn't feel like he deserved to be honored(at this time) with the long list of distinguished past winners.
Bill Clinton has earned over 100 million dollars since he left office & I am certain Obama shall/can make far more (if he survives the unprecedented number of death threats) never considered keeping the money.


The more I think about this award for Obama the more I am on board with the Nobel committee's decision:
"For his extraordinary efforts to strenghten International diplomacy & cooperation between peoples"(Sorely lacking the past 8 years under Bush).
Just for accepting the job of US President alone & ATTEMPING to clean up Bush's WARS/ECONOMY the man deserves a fucking award.:wave2:
