This will likely get deleted (sorry mods), but Barack Obama wins, McCain concedes. A historic moment that I hope will stay in this forum by noting it with this post.

Even McCain himself was gracious. No need for negativity...

What a crock of shit, fuck Obama.

I'm not a negative person, but I know many. But with Obama heading into office, it's going to be very hard to be optimistic.

It's the most important job in the country, and somehow the least experienced person in the country for that job was just hired for it.

As some very intelligent people pointed out, even Palin is more qualified than Obama. And that is saying something.

Just here for the words.
I agree. I'd feel much better if McCain would have won. Graduating at the bottom of your class at the Naval Academy really prepares you for running a country. And that Joe the plumber guy... he really represents me! I mean after all don't we all have the potential in us to be plumbers ourselves? Aren't we as Americans really just simple minded folk who fear God and settle ourselves with performing manual labor on a daily basis for a living? And even if Sarah Palin is just the governor of one of the least populous states and has no experience what so ever, she's a down home hockey mom. And we all know that down home hockey moms know exactly how to get the nation out of economic crisis!

Plus, Obama is a Muslim. And everybody knows that the Constitution says only Christians can be President.

I disagree with Obama and worked hard for John McCain! Nevertheless, I wish Obama well and congratulate him on his convincing win. I honestly thought McCain could not lose to him. Lesson learned.

Does it really? Does it say all presidents must be Christian? In those exact words? Specifically using the word CHRISTIAN? Because I don't remember there being an Amendment that says they must all be Christian. The constitution is also heavily racist, but you steered far away from that, and just focus on his religion.

Geez, even when people are trying to be funny on this forum it only seems to work out for ChefChiTown, and no one else.:thefinger

You looking at me?
I find it interesting that the candidate that promoted change used all the standard, traditional politics of the last quarter century to win.
  • Catchy slogan that doesn't really mean anything but sounds good
  • Mud-slinging at a person's past record without pointing out anything about their current record
  • Dodging important questions and interviews from opposing points of view
  • Promising everything without a viable plan to make the promises work (taxing the "rich" isn't a solution, it's a redistribution of wealth a.k.a. Socialism)
  • Spend MILLIONS of dollars on ad campaigns (even going so far as to buy a 30-minute long national time slot) instead of putting that money into useful purpose (like giving it to those same poor and destitute people)

So yeah, let's go for Change! What exactly is going to change though? We won't have Bush, but let's be honest here: McCain voted for Bush 90% of the time, but so did a LOT of people when Bush first got into office. McCain was against a lot of the more psychotic things that Bush did, and he stood against the Republican party and reached across the aisle far more often than Mit Romney ever did. And I can't talk about Obama's track record because he has none. No experience in Washington whatsoever. He's literally just as qualified as Sarah Palin, but at least we know where Palin stands on issues because she wouldn't talk out both sides of her mouth.

The ONLY redeeming quality about Obama is that I think he's against the Patriot Act, which single-handedly wiped out a whole slew of rights in favor of protection from an invisible enemy. The war on terror is just like the war on drugs. It'll never end, and it's just kind of catchy idea rather than something feasible. It also handily gives us a reason to invade or at least push around smaller countries. If Obama repeals the Patriot Act somehow, I'll be thankful of that and I could accept the ensuing economic crisis as payment for getting back some of my rights.

Compared to the crap Bush put up with from the Left over the 8 years (legitimate or not), my negativity is nothing. I won't be as bad as they are though. Just give me a week or so.

What bush put up with the last eight years?
Don't you mean what we put up with the last eight years? An unnecessary war in Iraq, what happened to "mission accomplished"? Capturing or killing bin ladin, the war paying for itself?:dunno: Largest deficit in history, even after inheriting a large surplus. Thousands of jobs lost every month with no end in sight. I think it's damn funny (or idiotic) how republicans like throwing words around, like socialist, unamerican, real america, godless etc. etc... For a socialist, you need to look no further than what bush did to bailout the fat cats on wall street, ass wipes, while I like so many other hard working "real Americans" see our 401ks dropping lower week by week. I think I might have to work well into my 60s maybe even 70s so I can have some food on the table. So all I can say to all you fascists is :thefinger

say thanks to your dumbass democrat clinton for all the foreclosures and ruining many families lives. bush didn't create it, he was stuck with it. what happens economically during a presidency is mostly what was put into place in the previous presidency. so if things look more rosy during the next four years, thank bush. when the democrats leave office and things decline thank obama. but i'm sure he'll screw it up quicker than most. he's an idiot.
