Obama's Speech Tonight

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
Mods: Please close this mother-fucking thread. I wish the fuck I never would have started it. The purpose and reason for it has been totally subverted.

The rest of you....Jane took the time to start a thread dedicated to your non-stop bickering. Please go there if you want to keep this shit up.

I'm disgusted and very disappointed with all of you who chose to turn this into more tired partisan bullshit. You desecrate the memory of those who died last weekend with this garbage.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
I have often found myself on the opposite side of issues than Obama, but I must say that the president earned so much respect from me in his speech last night. I was so proud of him and our politicial system and, for the first time in a long time, I felt hopeful for our country. I hope that the divide that has been growing among Americans will finally start to heal, that the politicial parties will find a way to work toward consensus. They will of course disagree, but they can do so without anger. And maybe we all can jump in rain puddles, too. :)

All is not lost Jag.... ^^^ A ray of hope.

Humbly, I thank you, Hot Mega. I see you quoted my post a couple of times and I'm honored and flattered beyond compare that my meager words swayed you. I spoke from the heart when I wrote it (I had just watched the entire speech replayed on the news), and I felt a stirring of pride I hadn't felt in years. I'm a proud American, don't get me wrong, but I have often felt so hopeless that we could ever come together again the way we did post-9/11. Then, I saw the slightest glimpse of hope in Obama's speech. He came right out and said that no one's words caused that horrible event in Arizona -- and that is exactly what I wanted to hear from him. If only this kind of leadership was demonstrated sooner. After the speech, I throught that maybe, just maybe, we have FINALLY turned a corner -- a small, tiny step. We didn't as a country turn to all this anger and recrimination over night and it won't be healed over night. We're one big family and we fight and bicker like one, but in the end we care for each other. Look at Arizona. We CAN come together, it's just a question of staying together. When the pain of this tragedy fades, maybe we will hold on to this moment, this idea. For myself, I will try to remind myself of this when I hear different politicial points of view and simply respond, "Hey, I hadn't thought of it like that, thanks!" :) Listen to me, I sound like some neo-hippie when in fact I'm quite politically conservative. Sorry for hogging the soap box, guys :uohs::D

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
But I doubt Obama has ambitions for all that....not even to "take our guns away".

I disagree. With both parts of this, and I feel if he is reelected, he will move then, when he knows for sure there is no third term. It may not be guns, but it will be something to move us closer to a one world government...maybe involving a North American Union, or some other move on the Constitution.

I just cannot, and will not trust him....he hasn't earned it.

Cindy you are one of the many reasons I'm proud to be an American. The impact of mere words.

Maybe he'll just annex the US to North Korea a cede control of our nation to Kimmy too.

The only thing you left out was the brain eating zombies.

I can't believe people like you are allowed to buy guns! It's hilarious! :1orglaugh

btw did you have the same distrust of the Republicans when Dubya used your constitution as a doormat?
