Onward Christian Soldiers!!! (So, Iraq WASN'T a crusade, eh?)

It reminds of the "What Would Jesus Do" saying. It's a nice little slogan...until it becomes inconvenient for the people that use it and then it is pretty much discarded for people to do what they want.

So, are we not ever allowed to reference a quote from the Bible in the US anymore?

You may quote the Bible but it has no authority on secular issues. It is just like if you quote the Tripitaka the Buddhist sacred writings, the sacred texts of Hinduism the Rig-Veda or the sacred texts of Islam the Qur'an. Playing the God Card has no place in a rational discussion. Myths of the world deal the the supernational and are useless in discussions of the natural world.

I'm so great I'm jelous of myself.
god is the ultimate conversation ender, when i'm talking with someone and they say 'god says...' i know we've progressed as far as that conversation will carry us. once the god deuce is dropped the discussion has ended and nothing i (or anyone) say will change that opinion...which has god as its back up.

Kinda looks like that GQ article's being treated as the real deal. I haven't seen any of the usual right-wing suspects, or ANY of the media watchdog groups (right, left, center), come out and call the story into question...

Considering that Dubya went out of his way to withdraw the "crusade" characterization (after his initial utterance of the term), it seems like this should have been a bigger story than this:

It is illegal for the leader of Turkey to speak of religion, The world would be a better place if all leaders had to live with this rule.

Conspiracy...
Bush and his cohorts twist the scriptures and try to make people hate the Bible and Christians.
Bush has never been and will never be a Christian.

After what he said about evolution in one of his last interviews should make that clear.
And, the fact that Bush has now converted to the Catholic cult.

In a free society that is not legal.

Nice bump by the way. :ban:

I don't know you tell me. ;)

He isn't committed to any of them.
He just jumps around. I know who he secretly worships. ;)

  • Episcopalian (before 1977)
  • United Methodist (after 1977)
  • Now Catholic (probably before 2008 *secretly)

Yale University (B.A.)/ Harvard Business School (M.B.A.)

And, people put a lot of emphasizes on college. :1orglaugh

Fresh out of high school right into debt.
Indoctrinated by Socialist Communists.
Then you get a degree that most people never use.
That sums college up for you. :hatsoff:

I must have missed it too?
I know Jeb converted back in 1995.
I'm sure WillE can provide us with a link verifying George's conversion.

All I can comment on is my own actions in Iraq. Before we would go out on a patrol we would say a little prayer, usually the Our Father as if made us fell better and a little bit safer. I would personally reciete Psalm 23 on our way towards the town or AO, just something that I did. I am not overly Christian nor do I go to church every Sunday as often as my mother would like. But something about people trying to take your life from you on a daily basies makes you want to be a little more closer to God.

As the archtechs behind OIF, I really doubt that they decided it was Christian crusade. We were not protecting Christians in Iraq it was the Shia and Sunni, we were not handing out Bibles to everyone, just food and water. Once again this seems like the Leftist media trying to turn aganist the soldier fighting overseas. Reminds me of what my father went through 40 years ago after Vietnam.

Looks like I'm going to have to dig up those recent articles about soldiers and officers explicitly prosyletizing in Iraq.

Maybe I should get the YouTube vids of the soldiers making kids chase their truck (for water) long distances only to toss a water bottle at them (which broke open upon impact with the ground)...

And this is funny - in the same comment, we get:

"All I can comment on is my own actions in Iraq."

and

"As the archtechs behind OIF, I really doubt that they decided it was Christian crusade."

Now it's not just the "liberal media" it's actually out-and-out "Leftist"! (but I suppose it's SECRETLY leftist, at the same time!)

It is funny because you are speaking out of both sides of your mouth.

Yeah, that pretty much covers it (for an answer).

If you say that all you comment on is your own experience (and I'm not saying you CAN'T have opinions on things beyond your own experience, it's just that you started out with that qualifier), then why do then proceed to offer your opinion on if the top of the chain of command saw it as a "crusade" (in spite of the substantial evidence that I have offered in this very thread) ??

Why do we still have soldiers in Iraq? How many more years will they be there? Will they be there to "take out" Maliki if he becomes "the next Saddam"?

When will we stop Middle East warmongering....

Again, this is an issue where the majority of Americans don't want our troops in Iraq and we don't want to pay for them to be there anymore.

Mission was Accomplished like 5 years ago....and I don't care to argue anymore that it may not have been the right mission to begin with...

The problem is that the higher ups what Iraq to be stable when we turn it over. Fact is that Shia's and Sunni's hate each other worse than Repubs and Dems and they will NEVER get along. So looks like we might be there indefentaly.

Mrs Jolly

You can't have everything! Where would you put it?!
It would not suprise me.

Those clowns, Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld, were prepared to lie and fabricate "evidence" to justify their world view.

Those criminals make Nixon and Kissinger look like boy scouts.

I get our drift, but I think you over egged this omlette (or omlet) Kissinger is one black hat short of Lord Vader as far as I am concerned.

The middle east would probably take 500+ years to change. They've been fighting since the dawn of time (according to history), so it only makes sense that they will keep fighting. Hatred is deep in the middle east.

The middle east is a tough region in the world.

Not everyone who fights for this country is Christian.

True.
But if your leaders are religiously motivated then you are fighting for those ideals anyway.

Honestly religion just seems like a form of madness to me.
If do something in the name of Zeus I'm Mad.
Add a couple of extra letters that's ok you've got faith.
