I've got to admit Dimebag is a pretty good guitarist, but he is no Steve Vai or Robert Johnson.

The Rules, of course I have read them!
Pantera has 2 great albums and 1 that I used to listen for a while back then, but haven`t really even thought about much since (this being the Far Beyond Driven ofcourse). The rest of their stuff never meant much to me.

Slayer sucks...big time. That shouting really annoys me and their lyrics are just childish - even in heavy metal terms. And hey, this coming from a guy who lists Venom among his favorite bands :1orglaugh
Ok, I never paid much attention to them, but from the little I did, I got an impression that they were just some wanna-be-tough-guy posers without much sense of humour....

Practices kissing in the mirror.
Pantera for me.
Anyone into Vinnie Paul's "HellYeah"?
I saw them live and met them last year at an autograph session.
Vinnie was drunk off his ass, signing some peoples items twice.

Although I perfer Pantera, those of you who havnt heard Slayer's Rain in Blood album should do so asap. Ranks up there with Vulgar Display of Power maybe even surpasses it. For power and speed which is what a good thrash album should be about.

Help! I don't know how to use the Search Function!
I like both, but I choose Pantera, for two reasons:

1: Their "production-sound" whith triggered-like bass drums, V eq´ed guitars and low pitched but high toned bass has been the standard in metal music for more then 10 years.

2: Slayer made a bunch of legendary songs, and some of them are among my favourites of all time, but I think there is a harder composition work by Pantera.

Yes, these words change as I post more!
SLAYER! Pantera are great to listen to all the time but sometimes you just need a Slayer moment. Then they're REALLY awesome, like when you itch a scratch just right.
