Police Accused Of Using "Excessive Brutatlity" Against Teen (Video)...

ChefChiTown

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2009/05/18/nr.teen.police.beating.tape.cnn

This happened in Toledo, OH. Apparently, this teen was loitering somewhere when the police showed up to tell him to go away. Then, something happened (which isn't on the video) and the teen ended up in a chokehold, blood all over his face.

The video was taken by a neighbor, but it clearly doesn't show everything that happened. I've been looking, but haven't found any additional information on this news story, other than obvious "fuck the police" type of comments on blogs. Does anyone have any other information on this story? For instance, what happened between the time the police showed up and time the video started?

Friday on my mind

Pain heals, chicks dig scars, Freeones lasts forever
His is 14 years old,120 lb's and the only charge against him is resisting arrest.Gonna be real hard to explain why he was roughed up that way.So far the clip said the police have very little comment.I bet LOL.

Wow.

I mean, if he was resisting arrest by fighting, than of course he could have anticipated getting a little roughed up.

But it sounds to me like they just destroyed him. Seems unnecesary. Alot of cool ass police officers. I know quite a few, and most are really great, stand up guys. But I also know a few who trip on the power a little too much. Not judging anyone, but it's that kind of mentallity that can lead to situations like this.

Still, it could have been that he fought a little too hard, when he should have just listened to the police. I don't really have any speculations, one way or the other. Just an unfortunate story, for both the kid and the police involved. Guess I'll go read the article now. :)

Okay, I'm not taking sides, but let's look at some of the obvious. You never see how he ended up bloody. The Police who were arresting him, had this woman run up "AFTER" it started, so that smells like a set up to me. I heard them say 3 times, put you hands behind your back, and only complied after the third, heard request.
That doesn't look like the worlds best neighborhood, so those police had to be watching their backs, as you never know exactly the situation you just stepped into. And after he was handcuffed, he was NOT abused or beaten in any way shape or form. It was even said that he was fighting with his sister, his, bloody nose most likely came from that. Maybe he's a easy bleeder and popped a zit.
You do not see how he was "roughed up". CNN humped it like a little dog because they had nothing else that day. So calling these cops shitty seems uncalled for. They have a tough job, and now they have a complaint against them for something they didn't even do.

This falls into the catagory of, gee I didn't know the McD's coffee was hot and spilled it on my lap and sued. Just my :2 cents:

I eat, sleep, and live FreeOnes!
We don't know what happened that led up to this boy ending up the way he did but we can all clearly see how big the 2 officers are and how small the boy is in comparison. The boy clearly was never any match for them and I'm sure 2 officers of their size could've found an other way to defuse the situation.

Conspiracy...
This was completely unnecessary and that is why they aren't saying much.

Verdict: life with no possibility for parole. :hammer:

Well you see only 1 officer restraining the youth. Not 2. Once they handcuff him, he's on the ground, they search him. And all you hear is "oh my god!" "oh my goodness". "What did you do to my brother!" And my favorite, "look there's the PoPo's car."
People are making leaps to conclusions, based that he had a bloody nose and being restrained when the camera rushed up and the cackle began.

I'm just pointing out what I'm seeing in the video. Not hyping it like that jackass on CNN, because that's his job.

Would take a bullet for Freeones
I'm a little pleased at least that this time there isn't the obligatory "racist fucking cops" comments. This time people can actually look at what happened and not just say it was out of racial hate.

I changed my middle-name to Freeones
There is no "side" to take in this logically... we do not know what happened via that clip to draw a conclusion as to whether the police used "excessive force" or not.

True. but then again they are the police. Most of them are corrupt thugs with a badge!!

And if anything, god forbid, terrible were to happen to you or your family it's these same thugs who are the first responders. Don't lump all officers into your own jaded view just because you've been caught doing something stupid and paid the price.

I work closely with Las Vegas Police on a daily basis and these are some of the hardest working, compassionate people I know. Last week Officer James Manor was killed in a traffic collision en route to a domestic violence call. The outpouring of public support for his family and brother officers was truly moving and yet within hours of the incident people are jumping on the bandwagon to condemn his last few actions that led to his death.

This was a guy who brought himself up out of the projects and was a role model for his ten, TEN brothers and sisters. He finished school and was a well regarded teacher here for a few years before deciding to join the LVMPD two years ago. He wasn't doing this for financial gain or any other ulterior motive. He wanted to give back to the community he loved. He was a regular speaker at community programs and gave a lot of his valuable free time to help steer inner city kids in the right direction.

He left behind his eight year old daughter, his fiancee and his large extended family. I doubt any of them would agree with your shabby claim of corruption
and malfeasance.

After watching the video I believe I didn't see anything excessive. We did not see the incident leading to arrest nor do we know what if anything the suspect may have ingested. I didn't see the officers do much more than restrain him with minimal force. I didn't see any punches thrown or the gratuitous use of batons, flashlights or pepper spray. I saw two officers acting professionally to handle suspects.

Granted, the kid was much smaller than the two cops but anyone who's been in a grappling match with an unruly subject of any size will tell you its a pain in the ass to rein them in sometimes. Plus if he were on PCP or any other stimulant his pain threshold and judgment would be off the charts.

At least his family will get a nice pay day out of this.

Nice rebuttal, but the point I was making was not about you. It was about the people who thanklessly serve their communities. You are an epic thread killer, my friend. I've seen four or five decent topics started and you will make the most inane off topic comment and cause it to grind to a dead stop.

My saying that most police are corrupt thugs with a badge in a thread discussing the aforementioned law enforcement establishment using excessive brutality is 'an inane off topic comment'?!?
What an odd thing to say!!
But I appreciate your valuable insight regards me being an 'epic thread killer'.
Thank you. Its always mice, er I mean nice, to be appreciated for ones work.
