Never mind. Poor attempt at humor I suppose. John Ryan was a psuedonym that Owen Wilson's character used in the movie "Wedding Crashers". That was the first thing I thought of when I read the name.

This is the cartoon which was the subject of a libel case due characters' names being reported in the press to be double entendres. Some of the characters were supposed to have the names Master Bates, One-eyed Willy, Seaman Stains and Roger the Cabin Boy. This wasn't the case; well not in the official version anyway.
