I hope you don't mind me correcting you.

The darkness might have been pretty useful in Middle earth (who'd want to see a bunch of gay hobbits?!?), but it's pretty useless in this case, as you can't even see who you've bound & where you've bound them...

A nice dungeon with paddles, whips a few feet of rope, maybe some handcuffs, etc. is much more useful in this case.
