i saw them for sale when I went to chinatown the other day. my 8 year old nephew's birthday is coming. thinking about getting him a pet. the turtle seems pretty fun for a kid but not sure how much work is involved in taking care of them.

Don't get young kids reptiles or amphibians. Those animals are ripe with ecoli and salomanella. A young kid isn't going to wash his hands that much and as a consequence is much more likely to contract ecoli or salomanella.
