Red ring killed my xbox should I buy a PS3 or Elite

If you got the "Ring of Death" then you can send it in and they will fix it for free! Even if it is not under warranty. Try that first, and then decide if you want to go buy something else. Personally I would wait until after Christmas.

How in gods name would they fix it for free if its not under warranty? You know someone who works there? Maybe the thread starter can give them your name....???:dunno:???

Go to xbox support and put your information in, then you can print a UPS shipping lable via.pdf and ship it to Texas. It took mine about 1-1.5 weeks to get back to me. take your hard drive out since you will not be getting your xbox back.

i wrote down my serial # when i shipped mine out and got the same serial # back fixed! so maybe they are sending back the systems that u send in now?

i install all my xbox games to the hdd.

no wear and tear on the optical drive = win!

the system should be a bit cooler, too, with a hdd install ...since the optical drive isn't giving off as much heat and the hdd is located on the side of the xbox, outside of the console.

most games will load a bit quicker with a hdd install, too. most ...not all, but most will.

i love having the option to install now. :thumbsup:

when you put the game in go to the profile blade or around where it says play NHL10. Turn off disc autostart cause you wont see this. It should say "install game to hardrive" or something like that....

Just install the games that you're going to play the most or make the most noise when in the disc tray. Otherwise you'll just be wasting space on the HDD.

yeah,like I posted in this thread earlier....the game is either dev'd to run more effeciently with an install or it is streamed off of the disc the whole time youre playing which will make the install irrelevant even though the system lets you do it anyway. They dont tell you so its all trial and error. M$ does shit ass backwards in case you havent noticed....

i guessi really dont need to put any of those games on he HDD they dont run that loud my xbox is relatively quiet but i also dont pay attention to the sound of it while playing a game. maybe ill try a game and see what happens.
