I know that it is a sore point to my girlfriend that I don't believe. She tries to look past it. If something goes wrong though in her life, she thinks it is God's way of saying she is doing something wrong, and questions everything, even the relationship.

Have your fun, but don't get too emotionally attached. If you want to make a conection with someone that includes the intellectual level, you'll have to find someone who agrees with you about certain fundamental things. Otherwise there will always be a distance between you.

There are tons of experiences people can tell of being in a relationship with someone who had opposite religious views but they all end eventually.. even if you can patch problems along the way it eventually catches up.. Why? because being religious is a lifestyle very different than a person who isnt religious

Usually problems in marriage are caused my money - often a lack thereof. The others would be when the partner loses interest for some or other reason, allowing the other partner to be unfaithful.

I think it all depends and there are no absolute rules. We were both very religious for about ten years and now we could both give a fuck about religion and we are just fine.

I voted maybe even though I was a victim of this. I'm an atheist and my ex wife is VERY religious. We clicked on every level except for our views on religion and it was one of the things that led our relationship askew. It sucks that but that is normally the dealbreaker for a lot of people; their religious and sometimes even political views. Never understood why if you're in love, why not just make it work?

My parents were of differing religions, their decision was to pass on niether. That kept the families out of it.
