Rio de Janeiro school shooting

at least 12 people(children 12 -14 year old) were killed after an armed man entered Escola Municipal Tasso da Silveira, an elementary school in Realengo on the western fringe of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is uncertain whether the gunman then killed himself or was shot by the local police. It is the first time an incident of this kind has been reported in the country.

The perpetrator is believed to have been a 23-year former pupil of the school, Wellington Menezes de Oliveira. According to the testimony of relatives, the killer was fascinated by Islam.
