I can set my own custom title!

Sad that there didn't seem to be anybody who cared about her.

RIP!

Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far
Wow, that is pretty sad. You'd think she'd have had at least one friend or acquaintance that would have noticed her not around and have been worried :(

Was gonna post this earlier but never got round to it. Very sad that there was no one close enough to her to notice such a long amount of time with no communication. RIP.

Yvette Vickers in her glamorous heyday. She appeared in Playboy (left) in 1959, six years after the magazine was first published. She also starred in cult B-movies, including Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman

Her body was found at this dilapidated home in California. The grim discovery was made by a neighbour who noticed that letters stuck in Vickers' mail box were yellowing around the edges and that cobwebs had gathered in the doorway

Yeah that is quite sad.R.I.P.

Got Porn?
Playmates should never have sad endings like this one.

They're my favorite kind of centerfold. A little slutty, but a little classy too.

Pain heals, chicks dig scars, Freeones lasts forever
Incredibly sad that something like this would happen to anybody. For you to go almost a year without anybody finding your body is just heart wrenching. I've seen both of the above mentioned films and thought Yvette was a very beautiful woman. :(

RIP Yvette

It's sad that she had to die alone, and probably didn't have anybody around near the end of her life. That's not the way I would want anybody to go.

I'm also surprised the mailman didn't do anything or notice anything. A lot the time when something happens to the elderly when they are alone they are very often the first ones to suspect something has gone wrong.

Would rather be pissed on than pissed off
Damn, where does the time go?
She looked pretty good back in the 50's.
I'm 72 and am still healthy & in good shape since I'm a gym rat.
Still, seems like the day before yesterday I was in my 20's and screwing everything I saw.

Ahh, well. My trusty motto:
I may get too old to cut the mustard butt, I will ALWAYS be able to lick the jar.

By the looks of things, Ms. Vickers was likely a victim of clinical depression.
Those lucky enough to be ignorant about such a mental condition wouldn't know how difficult, if not completely impossible it is to reach out to people suffering from such a condition . .that's the sad part about this story[/I], that is, if my assumptions prove to be correct.

RIP Ms. Vickers, your suffering has met its end . . . be at peace.

Aside - What's the big deal about somebody dying alone? I never understood that. :dunno:
Does somebody have to be holding your hand when you pass away and if yes, what exactly is being accomplished by this exercise?

It's not so much somebody being right with somebody else they care about when they die (although for a lot of people I'm sure they would consider that nice also.), it's somebody living long portions of their life alone without anybody else to be with, without anybody to love or being loved by, or without anybody to be mutually supportive of that I find more sad.

^ Got it! :hatsoff:

The mail person prolly just took it for granted that the home was just anther abandoned foreclosure judging by the way the housing market has gone as of late. ;)

Moonchild22

I don't know and frankly I don't care.
First I was immediately saddened when I saw the thread title, and then reading that she apparently died alone and no one knew for so long, that made my heart sink - and I'm the type of person who usually tries to detach from emotion, especially when it's about someone I never knew personally.
Just sad.
I hope she rests in peace -
(None of that hollow "RIP" text, as if it's a strain to give a damn).

Death is the last part of life on this planet, the main thing we're trying to understand. (Obvious and generic statement, I know, but still valid)
The point here is more about her living alone for so long - before dying and not having anyone find out for so long.
It's nice to have someone hold your hand when you're alive, too.

^I see your question was pretty much answered already. Didn't see that...

Moonchild22

I don't know and frankly I don't care.
She was June 1959. She wasn't as, um, nude as most other Playmates (unless I just haven't seen the pics), but I still really like these.

She was pretty smoking. This does put a highlight on how older people can seriously get the shaft later in life; if you don't have children or other relatives and good relationship terms with them you're potentially screwed like this.

Hopefully it's not indicative to her life and that this was an oddity just towards the end of her life as opposed to all her later years out of the spotlight.

RIP

My goal in life is to win a Freeones T-shirt!
Why didn't her neighbours take the effort to check on an elderly woman. The trash wasn't getting emptied and they didn't notice for months??? Those neighbours must have known the house was still occupied if they eventually went to investigate. Neither did the mailman think to ask neighbours if someone was still living there.

These days some people are too wrapped up in their own selfish little worlds. They tend to not notice anything unless it directly effects themselves.

A sad story. RIP
