Romney Breaks with GOP Over Global Warming, Fails to Mention Diesel Solution

Uh-ohhhh....With this kinda talk...how is Romney even going to make it out of the loony GOPer primes??

This is going to be even funnier than the GOPer romper room of '08...

COMMENTARY | "I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that. It's important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may be significant contributors," said Republican Presidential candidate and former Governor of
Massachusetts Mitt Romney on Friday, according to Reuters. Sounding more like Al Gore than the poster boy for Republican rhetoric which usually sounds something like "Drill, baby. Drill." Romney called for the nation to reduce its dependence on foreign oil, but added, "I love solar and wind (power) but they don't drive cars. And we're not all going to drive Chevy Volts."

On this matter, the Republican candidate and I agree, but the issue of global warming is sort of a nonstarter with me, in that it doesn't really matter what the science says. The truth that cannot be overlooked is that earth is, regardless of whether or not we contribute to its demise with pollution or simply the stripping of manufacturing materials, a finite resource.

Regardless of whether or not we are harming the earth by our lifestyle, the overall point is that we must, where possible, take steps to be the best stewards we can be of the resources we are given. There are valid arguments to be made on both sides of the environmental lobby. There are, for example, because of the environmental lobby, more trees today than there were 25 years ago, despite our continued use of paper. According to Penn and Teller we now grow trees on farms, specifically for the purpose of paper production. In truth, it takes more energy to recycle paper than to simply make new paper.

Load gun.
Cock gun.
Point gun at head.
Pull trigger.

Nice knowin' ya, Mitt. Except for the Mormon thing in the south, you probably had a chance... til this! Bye!

Not believing in global warming scare tactics is no more loony than say....believing you can tax a country into prosperity. Or that you can add five trillion to the national debt without fucking over every special interest group you pandered to during the 2008 campaign.

Either he's either taking a genuine stance (lol) or he mistakenly thought pandering to the more moderate republicans would win him more votes.

Here's the rub 'styro....Whatever the truth might be on this issue it is most certainly going to be something Romney will either have to try and explain to the kneejerk GOPer caucus during the primes (while being batted over the head over it by the likes of Palin and Bachmann) or he will have to once again claim he didn't say something he actually said.

It's going to be fun to watch.....:)

Meanwhile in other Rom-news...

FACT CHECK: Romney miscasts economy in GOP debut

WASHINGTON – In rhetorical excesses marking his entry in the presidential campaign, Mitt Romney said the economy worsened under President Barack Obama, when it actually improved, and criticized the president for issuing apologies to the world that were never made.

A look at some of the statements by Romney on Thursday in announcing his bid for the Republican nomination and how they compare with the facts:
ROMNEY: "When he took office, the economy was in recession. He made it worse. And he made it last longer."

THE FACTS: The gross domestic product, the prime measure of economic strength, shrank by a severe 6.8 percent annual rate before Obama became president. The declines eased after he took office and economic growth, however modest, resumed. The recession officially ended six months into his presidency. Unemployment, however, has worsened under Obama, going from 7.8 percent in January 2009 to 9.1 percent last month. It hit 10.1 percent in October 2009.

A case can be made for and against the idea that Obama's policies made the economy worse than it needed to be and that the recession lasted longer than it might have under another president. Such arguments are at the core of political debate. But Obama did not, as Romney alleged, make the economy worse than it was when he took office.

Someone finally used my name correctly in a reply!

Secondly, I have never felt that Romney is a viable candidate for president, regardless of his stance on the falling sky.

Seriously, who goes through life with a name like Mitt? That sounds like the kind of sarcastic nickname you'd give a one-armed catcher. Speaking of stupid names for politicians, wtf is with Newt or Tipper? I get nicknames like"Teabag" Tedy Kennedy or "One Pump" Kerry, but Newt? That's the kind of nickname that someone who doesn't know or like you very much hangs on you. You should at least have a colorful anecdote for it like: We were in a Thai strip club and the girl was taking things and putting them up her butt for money. I gave her a potato and now my homies call me "Spud." That's the kind of story I'd like to hear about people who want my vote.

All hail Cthulhu!

He could go the really silly route and believe that to keep cutting taxes, which are historically low now, or keep giving tax breaks to the rich is somehow going to jump start the economy when neither has in 30+ years of trying it and neither will.

AFK..being taken to the vet to get neutered.
1st - Romney is a fucking joke, although a highly successful one.
2nd - this is pure crowd pleasing, albeit half-assed, wimpish and ill-conceived/focussed.

Afrikaans have a name for people like Mitt: Salt dicks ... originally, it means they have a foot in both worlds (English and African), which leaves their cocks dangling in the seas.

This is Mitt's salty cock bath. Warming, but not warming; action, but nothing too actionable; protect the environment, as long as the corporations are protected too ...

What an insubstantial douche he is. Not only a moral coward, but also an appeaser.

Deserves repeating! This along with better than a hundred additional obama failures.

Global Warming? are they out of their freaking minds?!
It's been very cool and unseasonably rainy here in Cali, in fact, the Giants game nearly got rained out yesterday, Sat. June 4, that hasn't happened in eons!

BTW... I thought that the global warming invested fraudsters are now referring to their little scam as ''climate change'' ever since they got their faces plastered with egg due to the ongoing trend of cooler temps?
''Yea, yea, that's the ticket, let's gradually morph the namesake of our cause to from ''warming'' to ''change'', they have short memories, they'll never see the switch''. :1orglaugh
Conniving bastards.

As for Romney, c'mon, he's a business savvy guy, he's likely got a bunch of his fortune invested in the green retooling of America, it's the new way to make money in this economy.... just before it goes up in a ball of flames once and for all. :flame:

Meh global warming won't matter when we RUN OUT OF OIL!

Reading some of the reports coming out of UC Berkeley Lawrence Livermore Lab, they're saying that we (America) have 100-200 years worth of natural gas on this continent, what the fuck are they thinking in washington? It would be so simple to retool new vehicles to run on nat gas!
What are we waiting for, 5-6-7-8-9-$10 per gallon gas?
Get on it Washington, electric vehicles do not reduce green house gasses
in our upper atmosphere, why? because more than likely, we'd just be burning coal or natural gas in order to charge electric vehicles, r-i-g-h-t?

Best solution with the least amount of retooling - - - > Nat. Gas
What's more is, nat gas when burned as a fuel source expends 30 - 35%
less Cº2 than its gasoline counterpart..... it's a win~win! ..... but don't tell that to those who have already chosen to invest in all things obama.
