well depends.. first off..audio is always the best thing to upgrade. 5.1 is good..6.1 is great..
Ok some may ask what the .1 stands for.. thats the subwoofer (powered preferably). Whats the difference between 5.1 and 6.1 well, 6.1 has a center channel speaker in the back. A good center channel speaker will run you about 200-300 dollars.. an excellent one will cost you close to 700.00
When your pruchaseing speakers, you need to keep in mind on what the room dimensions are. so here are a few steps

1) If your going to have your speakers close to your tv, make sure the speakers are shielded. Shielded speakers wont allow the magnet to warp you tv picture and ultimatley screw your tv up.
2) A center channel speaker makes all the difference. The center channel speaker holds the main part of the dialogue in any movie. Sound effects and what not will come from the side speakers generally.
3) Yes, you get what you pay for. If you are not a true coneseur of sound, then the home theater in a box will suit you just fine. Alot of power can be handled in those small little systems.

Now, if you truely want to rock loudly, well then build your own. And the first thing you will need to get is a good intergrated amp. the three things to look for is
1) how many channels
