As long as a mature topic can be maintained I don't have a problem with it. Though I am changing the title.

She didn't. Only forced a name change. :D

The satanism, as called over here, is an age old practice of religion.

The classic work of Sir James George Frazer , Golden Bough, gives lots of examples on the evolution of religion.

Golden Bough

This book is almost a bible for the scholars of sociology.

The Golden Bough: A Study in Magic and Religion is a wide-ranging, comparative study of mythology and religion, written by Scottish anthropologist Sir James George Frazer (1854–1941). It first was published in two volumes in 1890; the third edition, published 1906–15, comprised twelve volumes. It was aimed at a broad literate audience raised on tales as told in such publications as Thomas Bulfinch's The Age of Fable, or Stories of Gods and Heroes (1855). It offered a modernist approach to discussing religion, treating it dispassionately [1] as a cultural phenomenon rather than from a theological perspective. The impact of The Golden Bough on contemporary European literature was substantial.

Abuse of the same is prevalent in almost all parts of the world, may be in different form, but similar in practice of magic and religion.

Dr. Sidney R. Siemer, is no exception, as he "actively presented “Satanism” as a viable option and alternative to Christianity and or the social norm.
In many instances, the satanic rituals and teachings were very formal, official, and laced with historical and logical arguments that supported its viability."

And it is derived from Christianity as Christianity usurped a lot of those ancient religious practices. (Please refer Dr. Frazer)

Even Tantra has similar practices while the actual practitioners of Tantra rejects these practices. And Tantra is surely not for satiation of sex.

Dr. Sidney R. Siemer, is not an exception, but is an example of the rule, world wide.

::shrug:: These things happen. Actually hearing about them is the rare thing.

Ah well, it's done and over. But someone.. somewhere.. is doing something JUST like that or worse. Sleep tight, kiddies.

Ah yes, time for another Manhattan. Why am I ever sober? ::Ben Stein voice: ENGAGE:: Anyone? Anyone? It's because life is an undesirable state of mind. :p

Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far
The most widely accepted claims about satanism are about teenage involvement in satanic cult activity. (Sociologist Jeffrey) Victor believes that, although some rebellious teenagers experiment with symbols which upset their parents and others are hostile and delinquent, it is unlikely that teenage pseudo-satanists have any contact with organized satanic religious groups and there is no evidence that satanists are recruiting teenagers into secret criminal cults.

Although some believers maintain that satanic cults can be traced back for many centuries, Victor observes that the consensus of historians who are specialists in studies of social life is that no devil worshiping religious cult ever existed. There has been no secret, organized conspiracy of devil worshipers documented in history.

Victor observes that the satanic cult scare arises from deep-seated frustrations and anxieties by people about modern society. It signals a moral crisis in which people perceive a serious decline in traditional moral values. The rumor-panics are thus like recurring collective nightmares. Criminal satanists and satanic cults are an invented enemy and the satanism scare serves the unifying function of a search for evil internal enemies.

Emphasis mine.

There was a time in the '80's and early '90's in America that ritual abuse was carried out by certain individuals.

"SRA involved a world-wide conspiracy involving the wealthy and powerful of the world elite in which children were abducted or bred for sacrifices, pornography and prostitution." (Wikipedia).

I'm so great I'm jelous of myself.
her account of 'satanism' sounds like some 1930s movie's vision of satanism, and if her account of all that is b.s. it definitely call the rest of her claims into question despite what the author claims
