Savage injustice to Bioware......

Galactic

Pain heals, chicks dig scars, Freeones lasts forever
I don't understand it at all anymore. When Call of Duty won game of the year before, I half way got it......but for the series to win again this year, well, something is rotten my friends, but I can't quite figure out what exactly is going on......

One of the beautiful aspects of being a gamer these days is the ability to marvel at being swept off of your feet and away into fantasy land.....far, far away from the harsh realities of the day to day......the abilities to arouse emotion in your game playing audience, wonder, amazement, pure joy......drawing a bead on another bad guy and sniping him from 100 meters grew old quickly for me personally long ago....rinse and repeat....and that is exactly what Infinity Ward has done again.....and they have been rewarded for it yet again.......give me a moment to scratch my head....

To my main point. The abilities aforementioned are all exemplified in Bioware's Dragon Age: Origins, but not only do they deliver on all fronts, the sheer amount of time required to complete their masterfully done epic is astounding.....I am not convinced that some amount of magic is not required to cram all that data onto one disc. Not to mention that a game of this magnitude doesn't just offer replayability; it demands it from thee.

Compelling story, good graphics, loads upon loads of equipment, character interactions, emotions seen and felt, stellar voice acting......it goes on and on.....and yet, a carbon copy shoot em' up game with sub par graphics scores higher by the geniuses at OXM, and subsequently wins GOTW?

Methinks something is not as it should be......

I realize that to compare the two would be akin to apples and oranges, and the styles are appealing to very different types of gamers.....however, when looking at the games for what they have to offer, and what OBVIOUSLY went into making them...well, simply put friends and neighbors, there is no contest. And yet a game that costs folks $60 and can be wrapped up in about ten hours.....versus one with near limitless options available, as well as game play stretching well into the 60-70 hour marks......hmmm......which one would you rather shell out $60 hard earned dollars for?

Just my two cents worth, and nothing more. I am a little surprised at IW winning again for their poor excuse for $60.......good competition this year.....Batman, Assassin's Creed 2, Dragon Age.......I guess the masses are content to blow things up and shoot the same guys they did last year.....whatever floats your boat......I just had to rant....once was bad enough....twice is more than enough to cause an eyebrow to be raised.......

:dunno:

Dude, these companies that give out these "awards" whether they are magazines, websites, tv, etc.... get paid off. The biggest example of that is reviews of Halo 3: ODST by the industry. About 99% of the reviews out there gave their highest scores to that game even though they listed many flaws with it. The game is a $60 DLC and just about nobody in the industry said it. They just recommended it. Watch DarkSydePhil's youtube video for the best review of Halo 3: ODST.

Who's your favorite pr0nstar?
Well to me its all a big sham. Anything with a human element to the voting just sucks. Because everyone has an opion and if its not mine it sucks. Kidding! But with our wealth of diffrent experiences and taste no awards go to who we think they should. Plus alot of companys bribe and overflow the voters with thier product. cost of buisness and all. Oh well I just play what I like.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
It's a bunch of crap sure. However, like any business that handles billions of dollars, there will always be forms of corporate politics and backscratching. Not to mention favors.

A lot of gamers are smarter than this and the businesses know it. That doesn't mean they aren't going to stop, because there will always be those "gamers" that believer every single word of advertisement and reviews that comes out.

I know what I like personally and will not be swayed. Especially if it says something like GOTY.

I remember reading reviews and when you talked about Halo ODST I thought, then why did it get the score that it did? Oh, that's right! It's Halo in the title.

I can keep going on and on, but thing is, I'm preaching to the choir in the end. :hatsoff:

Modern warfare good entertaining game but also I found it to be personally quite the propaganda piece hence why it won. Halo ODST was shit.

what the fuck you lookin at?
games that take 60 hours to complete piss me off! I don't have that much time to dedicate to a game that'll get repetative as fuck after probably 10 hours. I bought MW2 for the multiplayer as did everyone else. I still have fun playing it. Even though its pissed me off the past few days. But I can still have fun with it. Blowing shit up never gets old!

Dragon Age sucks, so it doesn't bother me. It is a real step backwards for BioWare.
