Scratch Offs, Rub Offs......Addiction?

Ok, No big deal but whenever I go into a store that sells lottery tickets every time without exception there is at least one person but usually a small line waiting to buy these things.
And theyre usually buying a lot.
Its gotta be an addiction for most of these people.
" Yeah uh I'll take 3 of those Big money's, 2 uh dose uh Pot o Glod's, 5 uh dose uh Stacks of Cash, 1 uh dose Mega Bucks Fantasy Millionare Lucky 7's Big winner spectacular Hot Bingo's, Uh....."
Its not like just playing the lottery, I think its the action of scratching off the silver crap ........it gives people a high like an adreneline rush thing.
And theyre hooked on it like heroin.
I also wonder where these people get the money to waste.
And I also wonder what the state does with all that dough.

Its kind of messed up.
The state has made so much illegal , taxed cigs to 8 or 9 bucks a pack but yet they get away with promoting this obvious addiction and make probably hundreds of millions if not a billion+ a year off it.
Its a racket, and they control it like the mob, no different.
See the mob will threaten, beat or kill someone who is running numbers in their territory, the GOV will just put you in jail,,,,,,,,,,,where you'll get threatened beaten or killed.

Whats your opinion, we'd like to know ( the royal we the editorial..ah fuck it.....).

I'll tell you anyway, Pick 3 cost a buck, odds are 1000-1, might win 2oo bucks , big freakin deal.
Pick 4 , 10,000-1, might win 2 grand, big deal.
Pick 6 and all those others are like it 15 million to 300 millin to one odds of winning,na ga happen.
But the 5 depending on what state is like 100 to 500k- 1 of winning and youll win like 50k to a million bucks if you win.
The 5 is the only one worth playing in my o.

And the trick to raising your chances at winning the scratch offs is to go to your state lottery site and see what tickets have been cashed in and what ones havent. The ones with the highest ratio of uncollected tickets are the ones you should be buying.

I see it all the time here in Texas. Most of the time, you'll see a Mexican or some poor white trash type that is loading up on the scratch offs from my experience....poor folks holding out a desperate hope to get rich. Sad really.

As for me, I play Texas Two Step (pick 4 plus a bonus ball) if the jackpot gets over $500,000 and maybe the Lotto once in awhile. I never buy scratch-offs.

I worked with a guy who would literally burn through two pay checks (he had two jobs, but his bills were paid by his parents) every week with those things. In the rare times he actually did win, he would cash them in for more scratch offs.
I worked with another guy who only had a boat payment and a car payment for bills - again, he lived with his parents. Yet, he could never keep up with those payments. Finally, we found out why: The floor and the bed of his pickup truck were literally covered many times deep with scratch offs.

All in all, both of those guys lived miserable little lives.

Yeah Jag, Thats kind of what I mean.
And i bet the worse the economy gets, the more they sell.
Its almost like exploitation.
But then again people buy them on their own free will.

yeah stan.........stan scratch?
obviosly not as in scratch off......lotta people are hooked on those things and its true even when they win they buy more.

My dad got drunk once and bought 500 of them.
My mom got real pissed.......but the son of a gun hit one for 1,000.......over all he won about 1,150 so he came out ahead 650.
Ironically and to me illegally they took out almost 200 in taxes when I cashed it.
They actually even make money when you win too.
Those Bastards.

I've heard somebody call the lottery the "idiot tax". I can't say I totally disagree with that. I think it's sad and do have sympathy for people that aren't stupid as much as they are either delusional or that desperate that they think it's the only way to have a secure life.

The lottery isn't a idiot tax. But because the odds of winning are about 1 to195 million people feel it's impossible to win. Somebody in Minnesota just won over 200 million playing the powerball lottery. Thats the type of idiot i'd like to be a rich one!
