Serial killers and actors that play serial killers. Is there really a difference?

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
I'm fully aware this question might offend people that try to get offended? wut

But I'm curious as to how the line between the two is blurred in some peoples eyes.
My understanding in a nutshell without getting trivial.
Serial killers kill a bunch of people.
Actors that play serial killers "kill" a bunch of people on screen for the expression of art.

Please note I am thankful for serial killers and the actors that play them.

What about people that watch movies about serial killers - aren't they all just wanna-be serial killers?

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
To this day, every time I see a picture of, or a movie with, Brian Dennehy, all I can think about is John Wayne Gacy...and until he started playing Jethro Gibbs, Mark Harmon made me think of Ted Bundy.

I had to work up the nerve to watch Sam Rockwell in Moon because of what a creep he was in The Green Mile. Now I'm over it and think he's a terrific actor.

The other point I wanted to make earlier, but was short on time....there is a huge difference, simply based on the fact that actors don't actually commit the violence, or have the psychopathy to enjoy it.

Dude, you're way to real and rational...can't you see we had a good thing going with all the semantics?

If an actor who playedf a cop, one who played a judge and one who played a criminal meet each other, can the one who played the criminal be sent to jail ? Can he ask for an actor who played a lawyer ?
