At this time, it is very difficult to make money in this industry.

But dont get discouraged. I think the there's a niche for amateur produced porn.

Just look at some of the amateur clip stores -- there are amateurs making money there. DVD sales are dead though, unless you are one of the top studios.

I have heard my guy tell clients that if you want to start an exclusive membership website, be ready to invest $100,000+ before you see a dime in income.

You will need a minimum of 20 scenes to start which will cost you about $3000 per scene, as well as webdesign, legal, SEO and advertising.

You know what Vanessa i did get a little discouraged to see that investment of 100,00 just to start my own exclusive membership website with my own content. My plan is to start out with my own content that being said i am still young learning about the business so i am taking things slow just gathering my ideas together and saving money. Without money it is really hard to start a business.

I have always had www.VanessaBlue.com and www.FemDomX.com. I just launched www.AdultStarsLive.com -- its my own webcam site.

I am working on adding GirlsCumToo, another site, to www.VanessaBlue.com and will eventually move FemDomX.com into VanessaBlue.com - so it will be 3 sites for the cost of 1.

Beyond chatting on ASL, I am also going to start producing some new content -- which I will star in for my members !!

While the industry and DVDs might be down, people still want to watch porn. Its getting them to pay for it is the trick!!

I've always assumed that any business requires three major revenue sources if they're in entertainment. The first is the reason for being. The second usually turns the intangible reason for being, such as a movie onscreen or on the internet, into a tangible, such as DVD. The third is turning the.entire intangible business service itself into a tangible product, such as merchandising items. Each revenue source feeds the others while at the same time each could provide income enough to offset any losses. This seems to be the business model that the non-adult movie studios use and I assume the adult ones use as well. I'm from Nebraska, which does not get a lot of advertising from porn companies in any form.

Can you actually book them for a shoot and make a movie that is not going to be used for distribution just for a private collection?

Yes you can. I got booked for one through LA Direct . I ended up leaving because I dont shoot private collection stuff but yes it is possible!

The other big question is, once you shot the footage, edit it, and spent all the money, how are you going to distribute it without breaking the bank. I would try and work for a producer first, if you can, then go on your own.

^Think about Copyright Laws also - especially due to the Wild West (yee-ahh!). And also contractual employment law when it comes to hiring 'stars'

If you are serious about shooting realize there are a lot of legalities you need to know before you even think about picking up a camera.

Porn is easy to make but in most states it is illegal to shoot hardcore. Nudity is fine, once something gets inserted into somewhere, then it becomes hardcore.
