I see what he means by that. It seems people are more interested in the latest celebrity meltdown, gossip, death rather being interested in what is going on around them that can actually affect them personally.

It is alright to mourn a death of someone you might know about because they influenced your life or whatever, but there is no reason to go overboard with it by acting as if it was your uncle or somebody who just died. Instead go overboard about high taxes, silly bills being passed, and the politicians who will do a lot worse to you than some celebrity that croaked.
