Danglyparts

FreeOnes turned me straight!

seems to me...what the solution here is....hmmmmm......

but seriously, i don't see why this as a major issue. if they ban them outright, people will still get them and smoke. it might even end up being cheaper in some places haha

Unfortunately, they actually become more dangerous. In the UK, fake branded cigarettes are a real problem. All cigarettes contain high levels of lead, cadmium, tar and carbon monoxide but the levels in fake cigarettes are even higher still. At least when manufactured legally, there is some control over what goes into the cigarette.

The best tasting cigs were Rothmanns Blue and John Player Specials. Two brands that are impossible to find here in the US. One has to be content with awful tasting Marlboro "Glue Sticks".

If it says this cigarette will kill you on the package, I think the real pussy footing from from the crap not killing you in a year like Meth. Don't tease me with death, just do it!

How about taxing every pack of cigarettes $100 dollars. Call it a luxury tax, you don't really need them, do you? Do that then you won't need to ban them then.

I think of those graphic pictures as a motivational poster.

If people want to smoke let them. You have one life, so enjoy it. Better than living under some overlord bureaucrat telling you how to live. Taxing cigs doesn't deter someone from smoking. It's just a quick way for some yahoo to get revenue so they can put up a stop sign or new traffic light someplace.

Make pot legal and tax the crap out of it instead.

This is a retarded question... everything leads to your death, and banning shit only creates more desire to do the thing you try to ban.

And for those that want to further ban smoking on "public places," I don't think you understand the whole issue. First, why should the government tell a business what to do? After all, if a place lets people smoke, you don't have to go there... it's called freedom of choice! Second, it's gotten so retarded that in most places, you can't even smoke outside of certain places. Do people realize the cars going by put out far more toxic whit than a cigarette?? It's crazy these days...

My aunt got throat cancer about 7 years ago and she still smokes to this day. She is one tough German/Swedish lady.

I tried to start back in JH when all my friends were doing it. You know, the "cool" thing. Sooo glad it never caught on because it's bad enough battling the bottle. And no doubt smokers' cars, houses etc. are pretty nasty. I don't think I could marry a chick who was a puffer. :2 cents:

That's all well and fine to think all that, but the OP wanted to talk about banning it. That's taking the decision out of your hands.

Yeah I suppose I should have made my point on the matter clear. I honestly don't give a hoot if people want to smoke. Some people are chain smokers and live to be 90s+. Some people eat salads and exercise everyday and get a terminal illness in their 40s. It's all genetics. :2 cents:

And anyways, the "sin tax" puts a ton of money into our budget, so... :hybrid:
