So I was at a Bojangle’s restaurant this morning...

.... and the guy placing the orders had these bumps and cysts all over his face and hands kinda like the condition John Merrick ( the elephant man) had but without the other disfigurement. I am embarrassed to say that I was a little startled by his appearance and hopefully I did not show any expression that would hurt his feelings. I placed the order anyway and he prepared it and I took the order to my table and I couldn’t eat. Completely lost my appetite. Got a to go box and took it to the office like hey! Does anyone want an extra chicken biscuit I have?
This was completely wrong on my part I guess. Would any of you feel this way and lose your appetite?
I tried very hard to not hurt the guy’s feelings but I just couldn’t eat it. And yes I know his condition is not contagious or anything.

I meant to post this in talk but I guess this could be considered political concerning discrimination and bias.
I’m still bothered by my reaction and loss of appetite over a man that can not help his appearance and still trying to earn a living. I am certain some hateful people have said terrible things to him before.

There's nothing wrong with losing your appetite over that; that's just instinctual and involuntary, like gagging over something disgusting. I think most people would. I know I would.

The problem would be if as you said, you had said or done something hateful towards him.

We used to have one in Kalamazoo but it closed, dunno why. Bummer cause they had/have fantastic chicken.

Ya I suppose they could've had the. kid in the back doing dishes or prep but you did right acting as if everything was normal. I would have done the same but I woulda ate there. Only because 99.9% of the time when I eat out alone I'm starring at my phone anyways. You could walk by me with lobsters crawling out of your ears and I'd be totally oblivious.

Prolly because the other people took time to say hello and over time get to know him. Found out he too is a human being with thoughts, feelings and dreams like the rest of us.

I've probably unknowingly ate much worse but hair is bad. I was half way done with a Big Mac once and found a hair and as if that wasn't bad enough the hair still had the skin part of the follicle attached to it. I puked in the parking lot.

I spoke to him as I would anyone else. I didn’t draw attention to the fact I didn’t eat. Just asked for a “ to go” box, packed it up and left. I didn’t notice anyone striking up a conversation with him or getting to know him. Just every day people placing orders and paying for it, and either taking out or sitting down and eating.

It's like going to a McDonald's staffed entirely by retards. Would you be okay with that? I personally wouldn't because I don't trust democrats or liberals with my food, especially if I'm in uniform. But that's just me.
