What does Econ Justice mean today and how many ways can it be defined ?

Weren't the post revolution Russian people assured economic justice, albeit in slightly different terms ?

That's too risky of a disposition for a lifetime appointment.

Thats the risk that is taken with all the nominees to the court.Some people I knew I would not like on the court,those being the ones I mentioned before like Thomas and more recently Alito.But at least the republicans got what they expected for the most part with those choices.Some presidents have been burned and gotten something different then they thought they would,my comment was hoping Obama does not suffer that with her.

Lets not get into the extreme of calling anything/anyone who calls for economic justice a communist please.Most know what is meant by the term.It means a society where the well off are not just able to run roughshod and do well while the majority is losing ground and facing ever increaing new burdens (like employers shifiting costs of health care from themselves to the workers) and diminshed hopes for a better future.As I have posted about before middle class and lower real wages have been declining for decades while incomes for the few at the top were exploding at the same time while getting their tax rates lowered,that is economic injustice.The opposite of those trends would be economic justice.

Judge Souter was considered by the Rupublican as a conservative, good old "white" boy from New England. But Supreme Court Judge Souter turned out to be a center left-leaning judge frequently sided with the Liberal.

Appointing a Supreme Court Judge does NOT necessarily means she (or he) will do exactly what the President wishes her to do.

Sotomayor has only presided over 450 cases on the bench and no one really knew her until 10:30 a.m. yesterday.

Anyone who has been on the bench for long time is subjected to scrutiny and judges are just human and can make mistakes before he or she sits on the bench or appointed to the bench.

I have no problem with her appointment and wish her good luck !

John Stevens is 89 years old and will retire in next 1-2 years) So Obama gets to pick two more Supreme Court judges for replacement of Judge Ginsburg and Stevens. There will be another woman to be nominated after Sotomayer, possible a white female judge too !

So it does not matter later on. The Hispanic will get at least one shot.

The nomination of Sotomayor and the rest of all stories will be pushed aside when GM files for Chapter 11 bankrupty as the creditors refused to trade credits to bonds.

GM bankrupty is really the story that will affect Main Street America !

There will be empty lots in every Main Street from big city to small town to rural America with rusty GM, Chrysler signs and broken windows, haven for crimes.
