But, yeah, it was 100% entertainment. Afterwards one may pick some of it to pieces, but while watching it I could only fault a bit of young Spock's performance, played by Zachary Quinto.

Having said that, though, he likely interpreted the role as best he could, as an awkward young human hybrid facing immense challenges we today can barely come close to.

I thought I would see the film purely based on the fact it is Star Trek. Boy, was I impressed. Abrams did a bang up job. Well, there could maybe have been a bit more bang, but really the technology did not disappoint, even though it was set in early ST.

I love what he did with the warp drive. The ships simply vanish. Not the whole rising whine of the warp drive, just, poof, gone. The deflector shield visual was awesome.

I also found it slightly amusing how he had a big red ball. He seems stuck on that, as one could see in 'Alias'.

The story, locations, characters, action, all were top notch. 12/10.

Oh, and the Aussies seem to get evil guy roles, ha ha. Eric Bana lands the part of the evull Romulan.
